  1. 'Bethesda games are better because you can mod them' is a straw man.  Witcher 3 doesn't need mods.  Bethesda shit on the other hand has little replay value without a community of modders supporting it.  And Witcher 3 beats the shit out of anything Bethesda can make as far as story writing and voice acting goes.

I have 1000+ hours in on Witcher 3 and I still haven't seen everything and done everything.  Imagine 1000+ hours on an unmodded Bethesda release.  With that amount of time you've memorized every inch of the postage stamp sized map and played every quest available multiple times.

Joined last month , I am Felecia. I have been too lazy to do anything other than mod my skyrim and  try to get i stable. I have found a way to run several mod tutorial overhauls with only a 2gb video card crash free. I can now play skyrim. lol.  Yes I am trans , you can kinda tell in my pic.  I love the site , I was just reading about an update coming to the imersive tutorial. I will keep an eye out for that.  I have now introduced myself , hat's off to all who helped me with the legacy of dragonborn files.

    Much love ,
    Felecia.

What?!  I guess we need to get butt-naked with the truth then...

Okay, I'm a cis white male who doesn't shy away from mods that might be considered 'gay ' (slim brunette girls are my 'thing'), Ritual Clarity is an up-the-butt probing tech support alien (seriously, he really is a fucking alien), Anatriax is a declawed SJW mod guide Dominatrix (fyi, she's still lethal when crossed), Karma is the resident cute Pixie (seriously crushing on her), and DoubleZero is a fucking MasterChief who's liable to gun us all down at any given moment.  Note: I've play Halo3 so I know what he's capable of.  (looks for hard cover)

  3. They did some thing similar with New Vegas but to me it was worse.  When I did the final battle at Hoover Dam and the game ended I was like 'WTF?!  Where's the rest of the game?'  Come to find out the rest of the game was only available in the Lonesome Road DLC.  What's sad is that DLC wasn't an afterthought because there are unresolved plot elements and actually game world blocks that won't be resolved or removed unless you fork over more dough so you can finish the damn game.

FO4 was my last Bethesda purchase.  I haven't bought any of the DLCs for it nor do I care what they add or fix.

  4. You might have to make a copy of the one you want to use and tweak it some.  Some of the stock vanilla shaders meant for creatures do not work well on playable races or other creature types.  But it is easy to change the shader values and types once you have a template to work with.  It is all auto fill box drop downs or different keywords.  I made Ice Mage draugrs that emit the frosty 'smoke' Frost Atronachs use, but the vanilla shader had a skin covering that looked like a blue kaleidoscope effect crawling all over them.  Making a copy of the the Frost Atronach shader and removing that effect worked.

  5. Well, in TES lore there already is a succubus of sorts; the Mabrigash from Morrowind.  Warrior witches with the power to paralyze and drain foes.  They got this power from charming a man and then 'draining him of his vital essence'.

This is incredibly easy to implement.  I've done it for female Dunmer.  Just make a copy of the upper level Vampire Drain spell and make it a starting spell with conditions to make it only available to female Dunmer.

  6. I am recanting my previous stance.  Being a 'succubus' should be adaptable to any playable race, just like being the Agent of Dibella or Mara.  I've sent DZ an EXHAUSTIVE pm which I'm sure he hates me for, BUT it contains an idea that NO ONE has ever used for a 'succubus'.  It also fits in 100% with stock TES lore.  Too bad you average schmucks can't read it. :P

  7. I don't think you should listen to me or give too much credence to my gamer ravings.  Sometimes I look at popular mods and think to myself 'The mod's premise is fucking stupid.' yet it will have thousands of downloads.  Evidently, I'm the one one who doesn't 'get it' most of the time.  I'm sending you a PM, btw.

  8. Continues to rain on your parade. :(

    Spoiler

Since NSFW isn’t LL or Nexus I’m going to be blunt.  That’s an advisory and I’m not asking for forgiveness.

The idea of being a succubus as some sort of ‘disease’ like vampirism is whacked.  Oblivion modders started it and Skyrim modders adopted it.  No matter how it’s painted it doesn’t jive with TES lore or the Medieval superstitions around what is or is not a ‘succubus’.

Historically a succubus is ‘a female demon believed to have sexual intercourse with sleeping men.’  Well, that’s a convenient way for Medieval men to explain away nocturnal emissions and naughty dreams so they can still participate in Communion on Sunday.  The same is true for women, but in Medieval Europe they’d only admit it when their feet were being roasted in an Inquisition trial.  In other words, succubus/incubus were hysterical 15th century-era bullshit.

There isn’t a lot of info on a ‘succubus’ that rings true if you dig deep and get away from gaming and pop culture.  It’s like what vampires really were (or are if you think they are real) compared to what Bram Stoker and Anne Rice did to them.  Bram Stoker was THE ONE who introduced coffins and a vampire being tied to them.  Anne Rice dismisses Bram Stoker with ‘the rantings of a misguided Irishman’ yet she ties HER vampires directly to coffins (a Bram Stoker invention).  Just like Medieval authors, modern ones don’t have their shit together.

Once difference between succubi and incubus is Incubus were known to ride thier victims during the night like horses or ponies, exhausting them and causing fatigue.  Nightmares, kelpies and a the Scottish ‘Black Agnis’ crone also did this.   Are they all the same being?  Their MO fits.

To me, Succubus/Incubus is a race and there isn’t a ‘cure’.  You are either a Nord or you’re not.  There isn’t a quest to change it or cure it.  If a player chose ‘Succubus’ then that’s what they are and they should deal with it, positive or negative.

Also, no matter how innovative or ground-breaking your prospective mod is , people won't download it unless you have ubber-cute presets that will work with ECE.  That means you get to make intentional patch for a mod you may or may not use.  And then there are the BodySlide/OutfitStudio whiners to deal with.

  9. Sounds ambitious, and fun.

    Race Powers Suggestions:
    (Succubus/Incubus)
Leveled Vampire-type Drain/Absorb Spells.  At 1st level give them the Novice version, like how Bretons get Summon Familiar and Dunmer get the Sparks spell.  After that when (or if) they take the entry Destruction perks for Apprentice, Adept, Expert and Master you can do an event quest to automatically add the next the spell they qualify for.  The Drain/Absorb would never be a replacement for a real Destruction spell attack; but if the player was low on health zapping a live enemies would be within the Succubus mindset.
Automatically give them the Charm spell, or make it a Minor Power usable once per day.
For your Enthrall ability, here's the link to Disposition ranks, how they are used, etc.
For skill bonuses they would definitely get bumps in Destruction, Conjuration and Illusion.  They would be resistant to diseases, poison and fire, but they would also need offsetting weaknesses, like vulnerability to electrical attacks, silver weapons, etc.  Not being able to use religious alters and being blocked from the Divine quests for Dibella and Mara could also be done.
The Vigilants of Stendar wouldn't be too impressed with Succubi-type creatures (automatic negative disposition or attack on sight).  On the other hand Necromancers and Conjurers would be very interested in Succubi.  And being a Succubus/Incubus would be a free pass into the Mage's College, like being Dragonborn but without the main quest running.

    (Sirens)
I think they would be difficult and time consuming to implement.  There aren’t mechanics that allow the player to play an instrument or sing.  There might be a mod somewhere that allows it though.
Sirens were man-eaters, literally.  They used their songs to lure ships on to rocks so they could eat sailors.  Not very sexy.
Water breathing, resistant to frost and poison, vulnerable to fire, etc.  From a role play stand point I think Sirens would be very one-dimensional.  Basically a lute-playing Argonian that looks like a hot girl.

For Succubus/Incubus characters I have head meshes, assorted horns, and a few vanilla hairs converted.  I use them in my own game for Dremoras.  Of course, my files are set for vanilla style Dark Elf type dremora characters, not humans.  I can send the files to you if you like.

  10. The Skyrim lock picking perk is useless.  Spending a point gives like a 0.39% boost in the chances to open a lock.  I played a straight thief character and the points I spent were wasted.  If you do the lock picking mini game and just 'pick the lock' a 1st level character can open a master lock if you have the patience and enough lock picks.

Perks that I know for sure work on NPCs because I've used them building followers and enemies.

    All of the weapon perks.

    All of the armor perks.

    All of the magic perks.

Light Foot from the stealth tree also works if you don't want followers triggering floor traps.  Stealth perks otherwise have no effect on if enemy NPCs can detect sneaking followers from what I can tell.

One thing about giving NPCs perks; they will use the highest tier you give them regardless of their skill level.  If you give a 1st level Bandit with a 2handed skill of 20 a perk that requires prerequisites and an entry point of 80 he'll use it anyway.  That's why when you looked at leveled NPCs in the CK you see a lot of duplicates with different levels and perk stacks.  The game can't use NPC Templates in that regard.

ok, :)  i'll try that one and see how it looks on my PC...  thanks for answering and for your great work ! :D

    You're welcome. ^_^

If you don't like anything you find PM me and I'll send you my personal textures.  I can't them upload publicly because I don't have the necessary permissions.

  12. No, you don't.  But someone else likely will and there is little you can do about it outside of a DMCA complaint.  Bethesda.net is acting like Youtube in that regard.

    Spoiler

Anyway, the application of DMCA guidelines for game content that isn't protected by a DRM is sketchy at best.  I couldn't find any case law or anecdotal evidence of a DMCA complaint being used to remove 3d art.  Primarily DMCA covers main stream digital media (2d art, music) and things like smartphone aps.  The exemptions extended in 2015 only apply to computer game publishers, not their end users.

Creating your own DMCA-type of documentation is feasible, but if you're not a copyright attorney you're in for a long and difficult process.  The whole scheme and all of the code is so convoluted there are websites with staff attorneys who will handle claims for their members.

In other words, Bethesda intentionally created a big shit sandwich and they're the only ones who don't have to take a bite of it.

Precisely my thinking. I don't think this will work out as well as they hope. The reaction to this announcement from some people has been lukewarm to say the least. They will need to do something that will entice PC gamers to want to play the Special Edition and the only way I see that happening is for them to release a major expansion.

I know I keep beating the drums about Witcher3 BUT I just recently finished the Heart of Stone dlc and only started Blood and Wine last week.  A CDProjektRed dlc expansion has more depth and scope than the base game of Skyrim.  And they are expansions of an already massive TW3 game map.  After playing TW3, there's nothing that Bethesda can do that will impress me.  'More of the same' for Skyrim but now in 64bit and consolers stealing mods like they are for FO4?  Yeah, I'm not enticed at all.

All Bethesda is doing with Skyrim Special Edition is tapping into a modding pool they don't have access to or control of.  They want to change that so they can sell more console games.

  14. 'Separate Creation Kit' is Bethesda/Zenimax corporate-speak for 'We'll chain them down with a restrictive and borderline illegal new Skyrim EULA just like we did for FO4 so we can claim to own everything.'

I think they're doing the Skyrim Special Edition thing because FO4 wasn't the smash hit they thought it would be and they want all of the existing Skyrim mods to fortify Bethesda.net.  There is almost 50 thousand Skyrim mods on Nexus alone; which means there are that many Skyrim mods ready to be stolen and uploaded for console use...and Bethesda will own them.  Dark0ne and his staff have already demonstrated they are NOT going to stand up for the modders who upload there or address the mod thievery going on right now.

My suggestion: Any modder who has original meshes and textures in a current Skyrim mod needs to republish their work with an attached license of some kind.  Otherwise some console kid is going to take your work and GIVE IT to Bethesda.  Since Bethesda.net is only recognizing DMCA takedown orders a preexisting license is your only hope.
