i'm not playing FO4, so i don't know anything about its mod managers... but for Skyrim, NMM profiles are a recent feature, it hadn't them when i started adding mods to my game two years ago... also consider that at the time i didn't actually understand anything about textures, meshes and all that comes with mods... i just downloaded any mod i liked and threw it into my game with NMM, answering quite randomly to the overwriting requests... so i never actually knew what had overwritten what... and NMM didn't remember it very well either now may be different, but the profiles where introduced just after i had reinstalled everything to switch from NMM to MO (a week-end of intensive work) and didn't want to face another similar work just to try the new function !

i don't know Arthmoor enough to say anything about him and probably wouldn't anyway... even if i'm not using any of his mods, whoever creates and shares mods for free as my respects. but in my opinion MO is way better then NMM to use for playing Skyrim with a lot of mods... i have downloaded some 350 mods for Sk, but since i can't use all of them, every time i start a new game i decide which ones i want to use that time... with MO is really easy, i only have to check/uncheck boxes and never get any issue, while when i used NMM it was a nightmare !! i always ended up missing some texture/meshes that had been overwritten by one of the mods that i had later removed, so i had to figure out which were the overwritten mods and reinstall them... so, being ready for starting a new game might require several hour against the few minutes i need now that i use MO... also, a lot of people say that MO is more difficult to use then NMM, but if i could learn to use it, anybody can !!

OK, i did it again and, yes, actually, following Kendo2's tutorial i created a new preset... so i decided doing something crazy... went in google and looked for a guide about how to do the same in Skyrim... found one... wasn't as good and clear as Kendo2's but, since the CK isn't that different from GECK and thanks to Kendo2 now i knew it a little, i succeeded in creating one even there !! but... the new created preset wasn't the same as the PC i used to copy it from, it was kind of vanilla... without the nice hair, skin, eyes, etc. that i use in may game and that let me create the beautiful PC i usually play with... why ? is there something else i need to do in order to copy the face exactly as it is (with all the nice modded contents) ?? when i got back to FONV and looked at the preset i had created following Kendo2's instructions, i noticed that there too the preset wasn't the same as the mod i had used to copy it from, but was... well... vanilla ! without the mods Kendo2 used to create her (used Precious Companion). now, i don't know how it is for FONV, but in Skyrim people create awesome presets, certainly not using just vanilla contents !! so there must be a way to do that !! anybody knows what is it ? -

that's me, exactly !! LOL !! anyway... even now, ok, i followed the Kendo2's tutorial, that's awesome, clear and easy (thanks again Kendo2)... but i don't really know what i did so i don't know if it worked i pasted a random female face over another, and ? what now ? i created a new NPC, if so i'll probably never know... i created a new preset ? they all seem the same to me so, i don't know if there's one more that wasn't there before... when i have time i'll have to look around, find a face i can recognize, repeat the process and see if i find it in the presets or not... but not today, too late now for "such a work " ! -

ahahah !! slow down, you're running too fast !! OK, the tutorial from Kendo2 was easy, i followed it and i create this new .esp file... now i still have to understand as i use it... it's that easy ?? if i start a new game i have it as a preset ?? if so, i will have to find a face i like and do it again (this time i just took the first female face i remembered) as for the future... not interested in followers... never used one in Skyrim, not even the vanilla ones... i always found them annoying, always in the wrong place doing the wrong thing ! LOL ! weapons and armors in NV... well, i first have to learn how to use them ! at the moment the only thing i could do was staying indoors having sex ! as soon as i venture in the outside world i die (see attached pic) the only weapon i can use is the machete... that's ok against a mantis, still working against a coyote, not enough against anything bigger (especially against men shooting at me !!) i'm totally incapable of using a gun !! when in the initial tutorial Sunny took me in the backyard to shoot at bottles, when i finally hit the 3rd one i was left with only 2 bullets for my rifle when i went with her hunting gekos, i shot my last two ammo without hitting anything, luckily she killed all of them or probably they would have killed me so, even if i'm glad i created someting (even if i still don't know if it actually works) it's too early to start making all those projects you trust me more then i do myself ! -

i don't think it was a good idea (for you) to try convincing me to learn how to use GECK first picture, first problem ! when i open the data window, there are X everywhere except on the FolloutNV.esm and i can't add nor remove X... it simply doesn't let me click on any of them... so i'm stuck even before starting ps: even tried to temporary remove all the .esm file from my data folder (except FolloutNV.esm) nonetheless, i still can't select it --------------------------------------------- update -------------------------------------------------- ok, forget it found out ! -

well, when (if) is ready, i'll ask you how and where to upload it you might even add a link or a downloadable file at the top of your guide saying "Italian Translation" so any Italian might click directly there instead of reading the english version -

well, translating your guide is probably something could do... it's not a promise but i think that when i'll be on holiday and i'll have some more free time i can give it a try and if instead of reading me you could hear me, you would probably immediately know that i'm Italian but i play games in english when possible in order to keep using it... and also because italian translations are often terrible !! i don't know for NV but for Skyrim i've been looking for tutorials in italian about how to mod the game, but never found anything yes, unfortunately well, for Skyrim there are so many awesome mods that in the end i didn't actually need to start modding myself... but also before, when i played the Sims 2 and 3, always relied on other people's mods, never created anything myself... for NV... we'll see, but i'm not that optimistic you know ? the few time that in a site/forum i somehow understood/discovered that someone was italian... i never got help from him/her... don't know why... the people that helped me somehow were always of some other country (or planet, in your case ) still don't know... if some day should decide to try learning some modding, would probably for Skyrim... but maybe i'll change my mind when i'll know FO better, at the moment just played for a very few hours -

and the answer is no tutorials, manuals, videos... are all in english and it would take too much time to me to read them... english isn't easy for me to understand, often i have to look at a video 3 or 4 times in order to get what it says... when it comes to reading is a bit easier but it takes anyway too much and i get an headache after just a page how many should i get before finishing reading the GECK guide ?? if i had the patience and will to do something similar, i'd have learned how to mod Skyrim that i really like and that i've played for almost 2.000 hours in the last 2 years and something... your guide for SCR is the maximum length i can bear without getting an headache often when i install a mod i mess things up because i miss something the modder wrote, since (s)he wrote it "too late", too much down in the page, when my head was starting to have problems and my attention was fading... my ideal mod would be one that has, 1st requirements, 2nd conflicts, 3rd installation instructions... and last description, story, lore, and whatever... all nice and interesting things but that do not create any problem if i miss them ! LOL ! -

ok, as expected... started playing, started having problems... 1) my PC doesn't look like those in your screenshots, after adding the mods suggested by Kendo2/ritualclarity, NPC look better and my PC is the ugliest of the wasteland (well, she isn't really ugly but she's the less cute) is there a way in which i can customize her better then the showracemenu provided in-game allows ? 2) i had a problem with a mod called Unethical Deeds, got an error that i don't understand... OK, i could ask in loverslab and i probably will but, before ilet know everybody i'm a newbie and not so smart either (you already know, LOL ) maybe you can help me understanding what's wrong... the error is the one in attached file "error", seems my game misses something but can't understand what... "error0" is the requirements of the mods as reported on loverslab, while "list" is my installed mods list... (of course Unethical Deeds was selected when it gave the error, i deselected afterwards) it took a while but i found out 3) anybody knows if there's a mod that allows me to move the camera around my PC without going into free cam and maybe even to walk towards the camera instead of always seeing my back when i move ? found ! 4) which mod can i use to remove the HUD while i take screenshots without going always into console ? i thought UIO would do that, but if it does, i don't know how. looked around a bit, i'm trying oHUD thanks. -

yes, after reading it again i more or less understood it i had started with the idea that the guide should teach how to install the mod so finding out that to follow the tutorial you needed to have the mod already installed confused me... but was a confusion originated by my wrong starting assumptions i've seen Bruce Wayne's tutorial and i'll try to follow it... at the moment isn't really clear to me because the pictures don't seem to be visible any more, so when it says "you will see this" since i can't see "this" i don't understand what i will have to do... but i hope that when i'll be doing it for real i'll understand anyway thank you very much and sorry for bothering you -

@ritualclarity i started reading your guide and... well, i'm starting changing my mind about installing NV and its mods ! LOL ! i got lost at the very beginning, at step 1 ! Step 1: Prerequirements Make sure you have all the SCR pre-requirements installed and setup properly. 7zip installed and configured. Required for this tutorial and useful for modding in general. FOMM installed. Preferably the version hosted here on LL. Fallout New Vegas Astymma’s BnB Body Extender FAFF NVG compatibility skeleton. New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) Most current version available. NVSE Extender (Most current available) SexoutNG Sexout Common Resources (SCR) by Halstrom what confuses me is... if this is the guide about how to install SCR... how can it have as a prerequirement that SCR is already properly installed and set-up ? isn't that the goal of the guide itself ?? of course the guide can't be wrong, not after having been there for almost 3 years and been used by i don't know how many people... so, what am i missing ? ---------------------------------------------------- PS: maybe i understood but i'm not sure... SCR (itself) is installed like any other mod but for working properly needs all the other stuff explained in the guide... that is not actually part of the mod but needed... so the tutorial would be not actually about installing SCR but about how to make it work without CTD, missing textures, etc... right ? -

i was kind of sure it was so just wanted to be sure since as i told i messed my Skyrim up a couple of time in the past and i'd like to at least try to avoid doing the same with NV i might fail and do a mess anyway, but let's at least try !! i already downloaded it, haven't read it yet, but i will and don't worry, knowing my skills i will probably need some help anyway, so expect to see more posts here thanks to you too ! as i told to Kendo2, the people here seems friendly and competent to me -

Wow ! you've been fast, Kendo2 ! Thanks a lot for your advice ! i gave NVSE for granted , so i certainly will install it... about 4GB launcer... shouldn't http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51633/? be better ? if it's true what it says will make the game use all the available memory instead of just 4GB... or it isn't actually working ? -

OK, here i am again i decided i will try FO NV, i'll probably buy and install it next week-end (that's tomorrow) so, last questions before starting... @ritualclarity i've seen your guide here http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/414-tutorial-scr-resources-folder-creation/ is it still valid and uptodate or something changed in the almost 3 years that passed since you wrote it ? anything i should know, do or avoid doing ? @everybody that feels like helping any mod i can't play without or mods that i should avoid ? i've been spending several hours in the last days to have a look to several mods in the nexus and loverslab and found many interesting ones... i suppose i should use at least http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51664/? http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/? or/and http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51633/? but i'd like to hear the opinion of you guys that have already playing the game for years... thanks a lot -

thanks a lot for you answer all the mods you pointed me at look great and, well, nothing wrong in you being biased and sponsoring your own work... the opposite would be strange ! it would mean that you created something you don't like when there was already out something else you liked ! LOL ! now i have a lot to look at and read before actually starting playing NV... and talking about reading... while looking at Mojave Delight (that i found awesome !) i read that it requires Dimon99 Type3 body... but the only one i found is for FO3... have i missed something or it means that this body works both for FO3 and NV ? maybe a stupid question but i actually believe that the only real stupid questions are the not asked ones -

i'll take your word on that, since i have no idea about how textures and meshes work... i'm not even sure i fully understand what's the difference between the ones and the others if i decide to play NV i'll certainly need more help and advice, the questions in the 1st post were the "sine qua non" things without which i wouldn't even consider playing NV so, if i buy it you'll see more questions here well... before leaving your spaceship you must have used some alien device to learn terrestrial languages because you don't seem that alien to me
