Does Age Verification Affect You? 

For UK and EU-based users: 
 

• In the future, we will be introducing age verification for the majority of adult content hosted on the site. The specifics of this are being carefully considered as we want to get this right so that the option to view adult content remains available to adults, whilst fulfilling our legal obligation to ensure children are safe on our website. 

For Everyone Else: 
 

• You will not be subject to age verification. The current approach to verifying you are above 18 years of age will remain the same unless we are legally required to change this to operate in your country.

While this isn't about Nexusmods, it still applies in general to across the globe to all users and the censorship of adult content. I would change the title of this thread to something more in general because this censorship is not only being affected on Nexusmods. Help spread awareness of this adult content censorship and age verification ID that is being implemented on multiple platforms such as Nexusmods, YT, Tiktok, etc. And any platforms that will put this into effect in the future. If not, maybe go ahead and create a sperate thread and move my two posts over.

 

YT has implemented this, or rather has put it more into effect as of today. It hasn't affected me in anyway and I hope it never does, but either way....

For anyone reading this, I recommend you to go to Youtube, click on your avatar channel and navagate down and see if Restriction Mode is off. If it is, YT's will recongize that your account is of age for adult. or rather not meant for kids. I recommend never watching any videos on your YT channel that are videos of children as it will build history and could potentially ask you for age verification (AV) via photo ID.

 

 

I don't know if this will have the same effect since today was the day they started to put this more into effect. So if you acfount does NOT have agre restiction enabled, leave it alone. Don't do nothing. And continue to watch content that is made for adults, and content made for 18+.

Go to your YT Studio via your channel and clicking on manage videos and do this as well for you account just to be safe, whether you  upload videos, or you don't upload videos. My other account/channel didn't have it selected  like it does for this channel that I use to upload videos. I changed it from "I want to review this setting for every video." to "No, set this channel not made for kids. I almost upload content that's made for kids." Maybe it will help, maybe it won't. I think it will since it will consider your channel IS used to upload content not made for kids.

I don't have videos on YouTube but I want to be sure that they don't lock me out in the future. I am not currently concerned with their $$$ but don't want to be restricted if I do ever decide to be uploading a video. 

I am not giving my ID over to some stupid fucking web site to upload and access adult / mature materials. Protection of children is awesome. I am all for it. However, by indicating that the channel and access is for adult. The materials accessed are geared to an adult should be enough. Especially when the account has been active for more than a decade with the same type of material accessed for it.
