I would love to see the data folder for this game. If it still uses .esp and .esm files and they haven't changed how the engine reads those files, modders could import mods from the original Oblivion. The problem I see is that they would probably have to change the meshes and textures to work with Unreal Engine 5. It will be interesting to see how modding evolves with this game, if it happens at all.

If the original engine is still working under the hood, then it's possible for someone to hack together unofficial modding tools. This is actually a good thing. No official mod support means no paid mods! LOL. I've done a complete 180 on this game.

The only thing that could have made me buy this. Oh well, I guess I'll play Skyblivion when it comes out. Nothing about mods it looks like. So that's a no buy for me. The game doesn't look woke, but I'll wait for some hands-on impressions from YouTubers I trust. All in all, I'll keep playing the original. I'm starting to think that Bethesda was behind the leaks. And Todd Howard is a liar. This is the last time I give this guy the benefit of the doubt. He can travel from the future in a Delorean, park in my driveway, offer me winning lottery numbers, and I will not believe him.

I agree. I don't understand why so many people are so excited about this game given Bethesda's history. It's probably not going to be anything like the original, and every game Bethesda has released in the last decade or so has been embroiled in some sort of controversy. When they reveal this game tomorrow, I expect to see a ton of meltdowns, and that will probably be the most entertaining thing to come out of all of this. Also, let us not forget that Fallout 3 is on the list to be remastered as well.

Looks like it. It's from the official Bethesda X account and they have a YouTube live steam going. Now we'll have an official confirmation and no more rumors.

On the leaked image of the deluxe edition, "PC GAME" is on the bottom left next to the Xbox logos and PlayStation is absent. People are making things up at this point.

Where are the GameStop employees posting pictures of the Oblivion remaster boxes in their store? Is this a digital download only game? If it launches today, they should be shipping physical copies. None of this makes sense to me.

Word on the street tonight is that the game will launch tomorrow at 12PM EST. All kinds of rumors are swirling. I feel like I'm watching an Internet Historian video unfold in real time. If this doesn't happen, there will be major meltdowns on social media.

One question gaming YouTubers should be asking right now is whether Microsoft is allowing Bethesda to maintain creative control over their IPs. Because if they do, there is no way Todd Howard wouldn't have knowledge that an Oblivion remake is in the works. Either Todd is lying or no game is being made. I remember Obsidian wanted to add a mini story to Fallout: New Vegas about San Francisco being destroyed, but Bethesda had them remove it. I don't see a third party studio making a remake of Oblivion without some oversight from Bethesda.

The game is supposedly being made by Virtuos Studios. According to the early YouTube videos I watched, Virtuos has little experience making games outside of port jobs. The only real confirmation we have for this game are leaked internal documents from the FTC vs. Microsoft lawsuit. ZeniMax probably added the remake to their release schedule to make Bethesda a more attractive acquisition target for Microsoft. To be honest, I don't think ZeniMax ever intended to make the game, if they did we would have had an announcement from Bethesda a long time ago. If this game is made, I think it will not be all that successful. It will probably not be fully moddable and any changes they make have a chance of alienating long time fans and if they make too many changes it will not feel like the original at all. On top of that, the game itself may not be very good. This game is not a port, and the studio supposedly behind it has little experience making full games. I've read YouTube comments complaining about bugs in the original game, but the remake could have its own problems. I don't know if this game is real or not, but I will remain highly skeptical until there is an official announcement or someone leaks some gameplay footage, because still images are not going to do it for me. If the leaks turn out to be fake, a lot of gaming YouTubers who you would think would know better than to run off with a bunch of unsubstantiated rumors as fact are going to have major egg on their faces.

My thoughts keep going back and forth between "this game may be real" to "this game was canceled years ago and these leaks are a massive troll job". Assuming this game is real, the fact that Microsoft is willing to release it without any fanfare means to me that the game is bad, the company has little faith in the project and is unwilling to put any marketing dollars behind it.
