  1. Well, next year will be 'the year' for games.  Cyberpunk 2077, Vampyr, Reddead Redemption 2, etc.

    Spoiler

And from what I've read Vampyr will be like if Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines and Witcher3 had a love-child together...and there won't be any DLCs, loot boxes, microtransactions, season passes or other shit publishers want to insert into games these days.

EA still has 5 years left of the original contract.  Even if Disney is not happy with EA the earliest of us getting a decent SW game is at least 7 years away...

True.  It's also very likely Disney has 'morality' clauses or other means to prevent the corporations they sell Star Wars licenses to from damaging the IP.  If Mattel or Hasbro had licenses and made Chewbacca choking hazard toys it's probable Disney has clauses in place to stop production or revoke their licensing.  I doubt EA has carte blanche to do whatever they please with the Star Wars game.  And Disney was probably 'aware' of what EA was planning for the game, they just didn't understand the implications until the backlash started.

EDIT: And depending on how the contract(s) are worded there is definitely a 'termination for cause' as an addendum or it's clearly defined.

  3. The European Commission paid the Dutch firm Ecory for a study on how piracy impacts the sales of copyrighted music, books, video games, and movies.  But the EU never shared the report—possibly because it determined that there is no evidence that piracy is a major problem.

LINK to the archived original study.

NOTE: The study is in its original and unedited format.  I included it so there will be no question as to the veracity of the Gizmodo article's claims.

That's definitely a bait and switch. This is EA just pretending to be the good guys to get gamers to think they are listening so they can get them early sales and then once they hit their marks in sales, it's back to microtransaction. They said it was temporary anyways.

Solution: Don't buy the game.  Since they are targeting wallets...target theirs.  If week-one sales don't hit the beacon score they need, Battlefront2 will be a replay of Andromeda.  And that is a good thing.

  5. Yeah, Battlefront 2...

Flagship characters locked behind massive grind walls or multiple loot box purchases.  They lower the costs by 75% BUT the in-game credits reward for completing the single player campaign cut by 75%.  So 40 hrs of grind is still takes 40hrs.  And now there's a credit cap on Arcade Mode to where you have to wait a few hours before you can start earning credits again.  You can still play the game, but what you do doesn't count towards your in-game rewards and you won't earn credits during that time.  This has been a really fucked up year as far as gaming goes.

    • The failure of Mass Effect Andromeda was 'our' fault.
    • Destiny 2 shaders are one-use consumables when they used to be free and reusable.  Bungie says to stop crying about it and pay up.
    • Bethesda says paid mods aren't paid mods but what Creation Club users are really doing is paying for mods.  Just believe Pete Hines and you'll be fine.

This is the new normal; game companies openly treating their customers like shit and then blaming those same customers when they dare to say something about it.

  6. I held off on playing Witcher3 until all of the DLCs and patches were released.  I completed 3 play-throughs and the only mods I used were the console command unlocker and the ProjektRed sanctioned ENB, and I really didn't need the ENB.  At no time did I ever think 'this game needs mods', other than when I finished the main quest and wished there was more story-driven content to play.  Witcher3 didn't need body replacers, better rigged skeletons or anything else Bethesda games require just to make to them palatable.  But I have to admit that something like OSex would have been fucking awesome.

If CP2077 is as good or better than Witcher3 it won't 'need' mods either.  And that's a double-edged sword as you pointed out since there most likely won't be a 'need' for modding.

And yeah, both EA and Bethesda are fucking with the core elements that makes their mediocre games 'good'...and that's modding.

  7. It seems Patreon has some new community guidelines.

Prohibited content now includes; graphic violence, bestiality, incest, rape/non-consensual sex, exploitation of children, and so on.  They are extending these restrictions to art forms, including CGI imagery.  That means video game content, which would fall under "illustrated, animated, and otherwise" from the new guidelines.

These new guidelines go beyond the 'flagging' system already in place for adult content.  The new prohibited content is just that; prohibited from the Patreon community.  And the process of account suspensions has already started.

  8. By and large the Bethesda fan base has been overran by fucking retards.  Just look at the grab-asstic cluster fuck that is Lover's Lab.  Bethesda games have always been kind of a joke but the 'unity of the community' made it seem less loathsome.  Now there's just a stinking miasma clinging to the whole scene.  My cut off point for Bethesda modding is now New Vegas.  I never bothered with FO4 and mesh work for Skyrim fucking sucks; totally not worth it.  And with how things are now, it is even less appealing...but I'm not a sorry Millennial fuck who can't get a real job, so the 'new way of doing things' doesn't interest me.

One thing though, if I ever see a Bethesda mod behind a pay wall I'll report it and the hosting site to Bethesda in a heart beat.  Trolling at its finest. :D

  9. Bone weight values differ from one skeleton to another.  It doesn't matter if two skeletons both have butt and breast bones.  Probably will have to clear the Parent and then Child the dress to the skeleton being used.  The bone weight copy should work...unless the bone weights in the _0 mesh differ from the ones in the _1 mesh.  That will cause clipping when the body scale is changed in-game; usually 00-50 work as intended.  Clipping might start at 75 and be the worst at 100.
