Doublezero Posted Monday at 12:05 PM Author Posted Monday at 12:05 PM Where are the GameStop employees posting pictures of the Oblivion remaster boxes in their store? Is this a digital download only game? If it launches today, they should be shipping physical copies. None of this makes sense to me. 1 Quote
Kendo 2 Posted Monday at 01:04 PM Posted Monday at 01:04 PM The only thing I'm seeing is Twitchers and Youtubers streaming the Steam version of 2006 Oblivion 'before the remaster comes out'. The whole thing is dubious; game shots that look like renders, but the box art uses images from other games as 'place holders'. So can the devs take screenshots or not? The engagement baiting trying to bank on the hype is driving the hype, and the hype is driving engagement baiting. It's like Leftist journos quoting and using one another as reliable sources. It's a circle jerk. 1 Quote
ritualclarity Posted Monday at 02:45 PM Posted Monday at 02:45 PM It apparently is only coming out on Xbox and maybe PlayStation 5. Not PC. Many of the "sources" are stating this. If it is coming out. It is a few hours from now. 12pm eastern seems to be the time everybody is claiming it is If it is legit. It might be the time that Microsoft / Bethesda announces it, not releases it. If I remember correctly, they played a similar game regarding a fallout release. I believe it was fallout 4. They had a web page that had some cryptic information. Quote

Likely they will give a song and dance about how they will work on a updated release of Oblivion. Then make people wait years for it to be released and make all sorts of SJW changes and other bullshit to it in the mean time. Todd will likley stand there (or one of his minions ) and claim all sorts of lies that this new updated version will be able to do. Look as far as I can see, port it to the new version of GAme bro and update the graphics and perhaps sound. leave the quest intact. If they feel generious, fix the shit that they dropped when it was released and never delivered. Missing quest and such. Leave everything the same. People love the game. Do this and they will have an easy success. But they can't IMO Stand it. They will have to fuck it up thinking they are making it better. More appealing and such. 1 Quote
Kendo 2 Posted Monday at 06:59 PM Posted Monday at 06:59 PM Microsoft is going to 'current year' the game's context and narrative the way Bioware did Mass Effect LE. I have fond memories of Oblivion and I'm not going to let the Zoomer tone police and TikTok brain GenAlpha morons fuck up my experience. Maybe the game won't be a nostalgia-baiting cynical cash-grab. Maybe they won't retcon lore. Maybe it will be good. I'll never know/don't care. Done with this. Not the target audience. 1 1 Quote

I agree. I don't understand why so many people are so excited about this game given Bethesda's history. It's probably not going to be anything like the original, and every game Bethesda has released in the last decade or so has been embroiled in some sort of controversy. When they reveal this game tomorrow, I expect to see a ton of meltdowns, and that will probably be the most entertaining thing to come out of all of this. Also, let us not forget that Fallout 3 is on the list to be remastered as well. 2 Quote
ritualclarity Posted Tuesday at 01:54 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:54 AM I just got a notification on my facebook about the Bethesda event tomorrow. From their official whatever. Anyway, the responses are absoultely insane. There are many there that swear that they will do the event then announce that it is ready to play now. Several others bitching and complaining that it is being released as well as fallout 3 (in the future ) and still no new TES game. Is it me thinking that that shit doesn't matter? I mean, it should be easy to do a remaster and potentially get them more $$$ that can help pay for the upcoming TES game. That makes sense, correct? I mean even with a bad company like Bethesda. Or am I just missing something? If so please explain. The insanity goes on with they going back to Fallout Shelter as a "shadow release" as an example. They stated that Bethesda is so clever and do things like this. I had to stop reading further as I would have puked. I also wished I didn't read it at all. lol Quote

Doublezero Posted Tuesday at 03:05 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:05 PM Looks like it's just a remaster and not a remake. 1 Quote
Doublezero Posted Tuesday at 03:34 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:34 PM Nothing about mods it looks like. So that's a no buy for me. The game doesn't look woke, but I'll wait for some hands-on impressions from YouTubers I trust. All in all, I'll keep playing the original. I'm starting to think that Bethesda was behind the leaks. And Todd Howard is a liar. This is the last time I give this guy the benefit of the doubt. He can travel from the future in a Delorean, park in my driveway, offer me winning lottery numbers, and I will not believe him. 1 Quote
Doublezero Posted Tuesday at 04:02 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 04:02 PM The only thing that could have made me buy this. Oh well, I guess I'll play Skyblivion when it comes out. Bethesda confirms that (official) mods are not supported with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered https://www.resetera.com/threads/bethesda-confirms-that-official-mods-are-not-supported-with-the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion-remastered.1170363/ 1 Quote
Kendo 2 Posted Tuesday at 04:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:21 PM It looks good, but not being able to mod out bugs is an issue. If the original engine is 'the brain' and Unreal5 is 'the body' the game is a Slavic 8 with AOC's mentality. 1 Quote
Doublezero Posted Tuesday at 06:18 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 06:18 PM If the original engine is still working under the hood, then it's possible for someone to hack together unofficial modding tools. This is actually a good thing. No official mod support means no paid mods! LOL. I've done a complete 180 on this game. Quote
Doublezero Posted Tuesday at 08:48 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:48 PM No meltdowns today. I am swinging at a low percentage in this thread. 1 Quote

I've done a complete 180 on this game. you have a point there. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-oblivion-unreal-engine-5-remake-is-now-rumored-to-release-during-the-week-of-april-21st/ However, the upside is apparently it wasn't done by Bethesda. So there is that. As I understand it, FNV wasn't done by Bethesda as well and even with the crappy engine most like that release. I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it would be to mod that with both engines. Gamebro was fragile as it was. OH, maybe they were testing using Unreal Engine for visuals on the remaster as a test to see if they want to do it for the new TES game? Quote
ritualclarity Posted Tuesday at 10:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:04 PM fan boy or legit? Does anyone know the quality of this person? A fun note. Patrick Steward is 84 so close to the 87 year old emperor lol Quote
Doublezero Posted Tuesday at 11:34 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:34 PM I would love to see the data folder for this game. If it still uses .esp and .esm files and they haven't changed how the engine reads those files, modders could import mods from the original Oblivion. The problem I see is that they would probably have to change the meshes and textures to work with Unreal Engine 5. It will be interesting to see how modding evolves with this game, if it happens at all. Quote
