I found this email in my spam folder. Even Microsoft's own email service hates Windows 11. What can I do with my old computer? Trade it in? To who? Ineligible computers become unusable. Oh well. I have done enough testing. I don't need Windows as my primary OS and I don't need to wait until I'm ready to build a new computer. I just bought a new 1TB SSD. I'm going to take Microsoft's advice and upgrade my PC this week!

I need 3ds max 2013 to make animations for Fallout 4. The plugins require 2013 or 2014 if I'm not mistaken. I think the problem with Wine is that it can't install DirectX directly, because that's where it always fails. It would (I assume) successfully install the DirectX Runtime at the beginning of the installation, but tries to install it a second time and that's where the installation fails. Not that this matters, I was able to install it on a Windows 7 virtual machine using VirtualBox.

Same problem I'm having. Oh well, I'll just download a Windows 7 iso and set up a virtual machine. WineHQ - 3D Studio MAX 2013 (32 bit)

So I downloaded 3ds Max 2013 from archive.org and tried to install it on my Linux laptop using Bottles, but kept getting a Microsoft.net 4.0 error even though I installed the dependency. I tried again using Winetricks and got no errors, but the installation failed for some reason. I will keep trying though. I'm ready to dance on the grave of Windows. Also, I want to try making my own animations for Fallout 4, so this is a must.

I see Kubuntu has a Windows 10 desktop look. I like it. I might go with it as the OS for my next PC.
