    No one I know admits to playing it so the base has to come from the consolers/players-are-payers crowd. Bethesda funnels manpower and funds into it, turning their 'every four years' dev cycle into what it is now. Honestly, other than laughing I have no interest in what they're doing.

    Bethesda is on the butt-buddy list for Take This and Sweet Baby Inc. I was already fed the fuck up with their shit games after FO4. Now that I know they're DEI knoblickers I've moved from 'never will buy' to active campaigning against them. Anything after Skyrim 2011 is dead to me.

    As far as Russia goes I don't think Trump will do any better. He'll listen to the same DOD warmongers and make some phone calls and try to tell Putin how things are going to be. Putin will laugh and Trump will threaten to flood Ukraine with NATO weapons; weapons no one has. And Russia wasn't our enemy until 2014 when the NATO-backed UKRAINIANS started killing ethnic Russians and Georgians within their borders. Russia said 'hey stop that' and we didn't. Que the Crimean Operation and now the greater conflict. Russia didn't start it; WE DID. So NO Putin doesn't have NATO's best interest in mind. And it doesn't help our position on the world stage that the Clinton-ran State Dept somehow leaked the plans for the regime change and Balkanization of Russia. Ya know, carve up Russia into a bunch of small countries so NATO/EU can strip them of natural resources and keep the people subjugated and impoverished. Russia's not the bad guy, we are and I'm ashamed.

    For the record 'dieselpunk' or '-punk' anything is lazy labeling. The first time I saw the term I thought they were talking about big rig Mac or Peterbilt trucks, like the Transformers or something. If they had called it '1940's retro scifi' at least I would have had a mental image of what it is. Millennial and GenZ creators can't help it. Generally speaking. they see through a modern lens and have to attach current year to whatever they're slapping together as 'entertainment'. They are morally and creatively incapable of NOT inserting their bullshit worldview.

    People just tack on 'punk' to whatever because they lack the creativity to NOT tack on the word 'punk' as a descriptor. i.e. Dinopunk. What the fuck is that? The word tells me nothing. The only subgenre that appeals to me is retro 1940's 'dieselpunk' but NOT what Bethesda does with Fallout. I like the Hydra tech from Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), the Death Korps of Kreig from Warhammer 40K, etc. Every other 'punk' genre is tired and played out. Wild West steampunk is okay for what it is but the Victorian style is lame. There are so-called steampunk 'experts' and they don't know who Masamune Shirow is; the guy who invented the subgenre. That's how far-removed things have become.

    For about a week I've been getting bombarded on Youtube with shill/cope 'Ukraine is winning' video recommendations. Just about every one I bother to look at is cobbled together stock footage with AI voiceovers. Can't figure out if it's a psyops or hate-watch engagement farming. Whatever is going on, I block them and they get replaced with another channel doing the same thing. Now when something pops up I don't recognize it gets blocked out of hand. Pretty annoying.

    Banned for racism. Thread locked. Anyway, the key in the urn in the same cell is dumb. I THINK there's a trapped grate above the lizard's cell and if you trip it you end up in the cell with him. Circle back to the player can't/won't pick the lock. All of this Bethesda dev fuckery could have been avoided by the lizard having a force greet package to tell the player to look for the key. Regardless, you have to talk to him to get to the 'who are you?' and 'follow me' dialogue. I never really thought about how shit Bethesda's game design was until FO4. To me, same game as Skyrim but with a post-apocalypse coat of paint. It;s not helping that they not only double down on those design choices but intentionally make them worse. For me, all gaming is losing its luster.

    Both are true. Every dovah-dunce is a safecracker/enchanter/alchemist so you're 'supposed' to pick the lock. But if you don't know how to beat the lock minigame or have lock picks then they have to provide a way to open the gate for console players (Bethesda being Bethesda and treating players like morons). NPCs being dumbasses is a foregone conclusion; see any faction quest for details. Because Bethesda devs wrote it that way. See above.
