I've heard good things about Zorin. Haven't used it myself. Mint is still good for noobs. However, someone that has had some miles under their keyboard in regards to Linux might want to move over to Zorin. IMO. At least it is better than Unbuntu. ;)

On a different subject.

I had a problem with my VPN. It was leaking all of a sudden. After the most recent Mint update or Nord update not sure which is the problem.

If NordVPN's kill switch is leaking traffic on Linux Mint, ensure it is activated via terminal (
nordvpn set killswitch on) and verify that the NordVPN firewall is enabled (nordvpn settings). The kill switch on Linux often needs manual activation. For stronger protection, configure UFW (Uncomplicated Firewall) to block all non-VPN traffic.
Here are specific steps to address the leak:
  • Activate the Native Kill Switch: Run nordvpn set killswitch on to enable the built-in feature.
  • Check Settings: Use nordvpn settings to confirm Kill Switch and Firewall are both enabled.
  • Verify Traffic: If traffic still passes, the application-level kill switch may not be sufficient. Consider implementing a UFW-based, system-level kill switch that blocks all traffic except through the tun0 interface.
  • Restart Daemon: Sometimes the nordvpn daemon needs a restart to properly apply firewall rules: sudo systemctl restart nordvpnd.
Note that in newer NordVPN Linux versions, LAN traffic might be allowed by default even with the kill switch on, which can be restricted using nordvpn set lan-discovery off.

Seriously?  I tried it with another disto and it worked properly. The fact that something can fail even when turned on in Linux is very concerning.

I've decided ot go down the rabit hole of learning DNS settings and firewall ports and settings so as to manually setup connections. It is something I need to do in order to setup some complex task I want to do in the future. (having differnt net connections, VPNs, etc.) Lots of good stuff! lol.
