I hope and wish you don't have to upgrade soon as well. I had to upgrade my 4th gen gaming computer but fortunately it was when the pricing was still reasonable. Not great, but reasonable.  Well before the A.I. bullshit happened. 

Currently it is a 14th gen if I recall correctly as well as have the 3070ti. I still have the 1080ti so if something happened to that I'm good. 

However, I am itching to create a dedicated Linux gaming machine so bad. Even picked out a case NEXT H2. Small but tall. Good computer to use in my gaming room slash living room with my xbox x.  Bazzite or Steam (still up for decision as Steam is getting better and better but then so is Bazzite) Either would have the "Big Picture Mode" so it would be very much like the consoles. Bazzite might win as I believe I can emulate consoles and such better on it. As opposed to Steam. I would be able to fully move over to AMD and have much better results with Linux which I prefer.

I guess I am lucky. I have more games than I can play for the next several years. Most if not all of them aren't online games or at least have an offline option. Many have modding options that can extend the game play options and make things interesting. I can slowly move from one game to another and once I've had enough I can then go back to the one I haven't played in a long time and it be somewhat fresh. 

Great games can hold their value even decades later. KTOR is one example. A Bethesda game back when Bethesda was great. Fallout 3 and NV (Bethesda and Obsidian respectively) are also great games. Lots of things you can do with it.  I like Mass Effect (not the last one of course. I have standards lol).  Then you have some new games that have some value like Robocop, BSG2 and Hogwarts Legacy. Yes, the last one is more for children and a smash button game but has some nice RPG elements and story. Well written and developed. Not the crap fest of some of the most recently released games.

Yea, it took a few minutes to find the video above you about this.  It is crazy. Nothing has been done yet.  Nobody seems concerned that EA can go bankrupt as other heavily leveraged companies do (people raid an company leverage it to the heavens promise the world and then default and the company goes belly up)  They, many of the videos that I had to sort through, are panicking about the possible loss of their access and major changes to rules and or game play mechanics and possible future expansions. More so than the very real possibility that this company is toast. 

I wasn't aware of people attacking Paralives and zOI.  then again I don't do much with the gaming news anymore.  Anything important will pop up in a Discord chat or a site that I go to like here.  Then I can check things out if I desire.

After fully watching the video I believe it might be sligtly, slightly more than Steam is reporting for linux. There are some like myself that haven't used Steam in Linux. They want the windows experience (being able to play windows game without any challenges no matter how small). I know and have met more people that use Linux for their main daily driver and fire up a gaming machine for gaming.  So that might have raised the amount of linux users. It isn't scientific but it does make sense. Windows is pissing off people. There are many that will try Linux just to get away from that crappy OS.  There are many more but they aren't sure and afraid of linux so they don't move over. Met these as well. Helped them out where I could without becoming a live in support person. lol.

( for those I suggest Fedora immutable OS's. Bazzite being one of them but Silver blue and others to choose from. These you can't really break. Not like you can with Linux and you can restore to the old image if you do. Need maybe 4~5 maybe 6 total commands at the max the rest is done by the OS and for most of those, you don't really even need that. ) 

Linux Mint for those that want to experience Linux and want to learn it. Get into it and understand it.  

There was an article that stated that Linux A.I use was what pushed it over. Can't find the article now. It was suspected this happened but no real evidence. 

Also a side comment. Youtube is shit.  Now I have to log in just to watch a video. Prompts to open up my history and everythiing else but actually showing me videos. What it was good at. What it became famous for. What it is built to do.  Just when you think Google can't be any more shitty, they create new ways.

Dam.  I still have the old Halo and it is great. Watching this is so different. I haven't played much if any of the Halo releases after the original. 

The game was great. It had much of if not all of the needed ingrediants to be successful back then and even more so now with all the culture wars. What makes this even more sad is Baulders Gate was released more than a year ago showing that get rid of the bullshit and you will be greatly successful.

Interesting follow up.  I believed hositng is pretty cheap even at this level considering the pay back. I believe you are correct with the added cost for bug fixing and curation. I doubt much work goes in to the curation except perhaps a check to make sure it doesn't host maleware or something (software). As for bug fixing I'd imagine they make the creator fix the bugs. 

There is another "cost" as places state that they "support" the modders. However, how far that happens is anyone's guess unless someone comes forward and talks. Likley they have a NDA on their contracts with Bethesda. 

The added profit is there is new "DLCs" (lol) for customers to explore. Used as a stop gap to the extremely long time between releases might be a benifit. I've met some people that have no problem with Bethesda's Creation Club and use it and even like some of the products there. (Disclaimer, they are new to the franchise coming from the popularity of the Fallout Series on Prime and likely are used to microtransactions etc. )

We don't know how much they make daily. The majority of the money could have been made when Starfield was released, for all we know.

Personally, I view the remasters like warmed over dog .  

I believe if they "remaster" these games they need to truly go in and rebuild the game from the gound up. Update the graphics. Update the engine to the newest one used for the Elder Scrolls 6 or Starfield whatever.  Update the tools.  When remastering, they need to go back to the roots of the game. Restore cut content now that computers can run the assets. For example FNV split up New Vegas city.  They can open it up, restore missing or cut side quest etc. Flesh it out a bit. That would be a remaster worth talking about. Not slapping some  graphic  over the top and calling it a day like they did for Oblivion.  Hell, they even told the community not to mod it. Talk about stupid. Nobody is talking about the remasterd Oblivon anymore.

I am not one to look at AI and such, but some of the information coming out about this manager for AI (where you can run many of them under one controler ) is quite interesting. YOu can set this up and then switch out various AIs depending on your need, money (the all importaint tokens) as needed. You can download and setup this system entirely on your own Server and run it on your own without any information being scrapped or used or even recorded by mega corps.  Very interesting. Take a chheck on some Youtube videos if you might be intersted. 

Note since this is a manager for AI. we can discuss all things related to AI on this thread as well. Pluses and of course negatives. (lord knows there are negatives) 

It's true. It was likely at least to me. They were raisng pricing and expenses were getting out of hand. Even mega corps like Microsoft have a limit before the stock holders start to ask for the board's heads.  

I am actually encouraged by the most recent news and more importantly the expressly stated upper management purge. This will save money, and should help make things run smoother and more efficently. It is pretty much basic A,B,C's of running a buisness. 

Of course I am not going to celebrate right away as this is Microsoft, and if there is anything I've learned about this company is if there is a way to fuck something up, they will head right for it. 

Now they need to stop releasing vibe coding. It is one thing to use AI to set something up and start testing but quite another to relase it wholesale as  a final product.

A nice command that I wasn't aware of. Helps deeper cleaning of Debian systems. I have tried it and had almost 700 mb of files and programs that were  no longer being used. 

The system is very stable now. No signs of any issues. 

The command is : 

sudo apt install deborphan
sudo apt purge $(deborphan)

It installs a tool that helps more thorough dependency management. Not required as apt get is pretty solid as it is but something extra for those wanting more clean system. 

Another cleaning command. 

journalctl --disk-usage

^ checks how much your journal files are taking up. 

sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=14d

^ this helps clear out older journal files beyond 14 days. I believe just change the 14 to whatever you want and it will clear those out. 

Want to set and forget, regarding journal files ? 

sudo journalctl --vacuum-size=500M

 Set the size to what you want and forget it. Now it should maintain the files as needed. AS I understand it from my reading the journals will continue to grow until cleaned. So an old system can bet more bloated than necessary. I mean you most likely won't need a journal file form last month much less last year. 

I found some really nice other files but they have the rm command and that is something I won't sperad in open forums due to the fact if  you type something wrong, you can delete your entire system.  Terriffic command though. I use it to get rid of stuck or stuborn and orphand files (owners no longer present) type stuff. Really fast and powerful.  

Too much? 

The simple commands : 

sudo apt autoremove

sudo apt clean 

should be enough for most users. The above is for those that either have limited space. (say in a VM or small SD) and/or have a desire to clean out things. It can increse performance the cleaner the system is.
