  1. Your post has so many fantastic spots I can't decide which I like the most. : (This is especially hilarious given the mods Pama makes!!! Right now they're all on this impaling kick.) Experienced that first hand when some of my cousins from the US came for a visit. My reaction: I think 2/3 the users of LL probably need a bitch slapping. And then all the contributors. (Probably myself included! )
  2. Relating to the banning thing. If you've got a dynamic IP it's virtually impossible to ban you anyway. I've got a double whammy here. I've got dynamic IP, PLUS always-on VPN... which also changes IPs regularly. Turns into whack a mole real fast.
  3. Yeah banning is no longer really a thing. Way too easy now to come at the place from a different nation and burner email. Can even use burner telephone numbers now for garbage like Google. If it helps any, P was butt hurt like crazy about the whole thing. It devolved into a generational name-calling episode. The LL mods -must- be Boomers they say. I don't even know what the hell a boomer is anymore. The US keeps shifting the definition!) Then they went after Gen X whatever the hell that is. Wake me up when get to Generation 0. Or are we there now? I'm still laughing over the "vigilante BAD" thing. What in the literal hell? Yeah instead lets all be victims and let the baddies get away. Great idea chaps. I'd ask what insane planet of suck the guy is from but it's Germany. No comment. (One of my best friends is German and he assures me... well I'll just go: ) One interesting thing .... P's group was actually -complaining- about the lack of free speech! So they may be from planet suck but apparently prefer free speech so they can spew their dopey views. Is this a plus?
  4. I've got a bit of intel on this. Apparently.... somebody on LL made a post about a couple guys beating up some domestic abuser. (Seriously doubt a single thing written was true. Especially since I've read the same variation of the same story untold times. ) Said "boy" sails in, says something about vigilantism being bad (huh!? I guess no justice is superior? ) and got himself a warning for the trouble. So I think is a case where both sides hate LL moderation.
  5. Really the current climate just makes me want to make a video game with a woke switch. Woke Switch On: All female characters are hideously ugly. All female characters cannot ever be wrong about anything, and cannot be beaten in combat. Female characters fulfill all masculine roles. All male characters are stupid and used as comic relief. You don't actually play the game, it plays itself. (So it's not too hard!) Woke Switch Off: Actually attractive female characters exist. Female characters may be wrong, can be defeated in combat, and may just actually have some flaws in their personality! Female characters are feminine. Some male characters can actually be competent! The game is actually a challenge as intended.
  6. I may agree with Yale here. I mean, most video games have awful disgusting culturally appropriated hair. Enough is enough. Stop the ugly I mean, cultural appropriation. Let's get back to having nice hair... I mean non-culturally appropriated hair. And since you can't culturally appropriate European stuff for some reason... we all get European hair in video games!
  7. That drugged up lunatic can't even pronounce democracy!
  8. Yeah that flag debacle really shows how disgusting the Nexus has become. ... Alright it was always pretty awful actually. It's just even worse (is it really?) now.
  9. There's a... AHEM place online... that leaks paywalled mods. I dropped by a couple months back. They had a bunch of Schaken stuff. I checked some of it out. Every single one: mediocre to garbage quality. Why anyone would pay for that crap is beyond me. As a side note, I've noticed much the same thing in the Sims 4 community. If it's paywalled, it's generally much lower quality.
  10. For streaming I use these, but I don't know if any of these work in the states. FMovies - Pretty comprehensive. Decent streaming quality. Didn't have Nightmare from my above post. Search is limited to titles. Relatively modern UI. VK/video - This one is better for older films but they have some new. Search must be exact title. (One letter off and it can't find it.) Of course occasionally has Russian dubs. There is usually an english only version however. Streaming quality varies. If using on a phone/tablet, request the desktop site or it will spam you with login requests. UI is... less than optimal. bs.to - Mainly German and mainly for TV. Has a lot of English versions still. Search is limited, better to just check out the list. Streaming quality isn't the greatest. UI is straight out of the 90s. I use this as a last resort if the other two fail to find what I'm after. For picking up the films directly I use the usual suspects. (RARBG and 1337. )
  11. This really seems to be true. When you get money in the mix it's like the quality takes a major nosedive. Even commercially. That CC stuff is ridiculous.
  12. No shade on the book but the film was so painful I still remember it. Right, but this is a movie recommendation list! OK ran into this little gem: Nightmare 1956! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049553/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_43 Great music too. They sure don't make them like they used to!! Can very likely find it for free on VK or maybe fmovies.
  13. I don't think I saw the whole thing. I do remember the crew becoming abnormally upset over the idea of making a functioning wormhole. I mean, wow guys. I guess space must be boring if they're that emotional over a wormhole. Just found the clip. I wouldn't hire these idiots to rescue a kitten from a tree. I'm sure it's fun for the carnage though. Also, I didn't double check... but pretty sure they stole this "fold space-time" on several other films. This probably stole it from somewhere as well.
  14. Speaking of LL..... it's virtually unusable at this point between all the issues. The borked uploads issue still hasn't been fixed which is requiring anyone with a modern mod to use a mirror. There's the weirdly enforced rules (some mod authors getting banned for no apparent reason, etc.) Now there's another major problem: Sims 4. I do play Sims 4 on occasion but LL is inundated with tons of new Sims 4 mods daily (most of which are low quality unfortunately). Anybody posting a new mod for anything gets buried within a couple hours. I've already missed new posts from several people I know just because they are off the new files list in a couple hours. A ton of us did voice concerns on the "not so secret secret" section but they have been largely ignored. **** However since this is the cringe thread...... Check out some of the research in the UK! Apparently it got so much backlash they finally decided to take it down.
  15. Yeah, too many things have been real that should have been satire.
  16. California, or shall we instead say Sacramento, regularly forgets the whole place is a desert. Rather than anything sane, they'll cut the water to crops then whine about (insert cause of the moment here) and do absolutely nothing as the rest of the state falls into complete chaos. They don't even take simple steps to store water for drought years and every single drought is a "surprise". Forget the wall on the Mexican border, the US should build a wall around Sacramento, LA (cut off at Orange County of course ) and San Francisco to keep all the loons in! And after it's finished, build another one around DC. Regarding the Meade thing, I was there several years ago and thought it was abysmally low. The rangers assured everyone "Oh it's just fine this is normal." Now this.
  17. At this point I don't believe those idiots could write even a partially decent plot so I'll just assume it's trash like normal from the beginning. That said the game itself may, and it's very big may, have some modding potential. If it's a bit like No Man's Sky but with FO4 style settlements (hopefully a hell of a lot more fleshed out than the garbage in FO4)... there could be some fun to be had here. FO4's main issue (aside from obvious stuff like stupid plot and a non-working dialog system) was it gets REALLY old building settlements in that hell hole. No matter how green you make it, it still ends up ugly. This game may not have that problem so it may be more of a success. But it's Bethsoft, so assume the worst and at least have a chance at a pleasant surprise.
  18. Have you tried that personally? I used to do that a lot back in the XP days. Win10 LTSB is better than base Windows but there are still some things (Windows Defender ...) I wouldn't mind axing. With a plasma axe. That turns what it touches into goo.
  19. You mean everyone else isn't on Win10 LTSB? No M$ store, no Cortana (whatever the hell that is), no or rather less M$ spying (still have to turns stuff off). It's actually a lot like Win 7 just with a snazzier base GUI. When I see some of the crap in standard Win10/11... I do not know how people can even manage to use it without wanting to throw the machine out the nearest (real physical) window. The other day I had to use a friend's laptop briefly.... ads everywhere, tons of crud, and I couldn't believe the resources wasted at idle. I wouldn't be capable of using a setup like that for any length of time.
  20. Yeah the baseless claims thing happened a lot on the Nexus too. At least back in my very brief Nexus days. I had a couple people I knew who the Nexus banned because they uploaded their -original- work after somebody else who made derivatives of the originals. Banned for uploading your own work. Incredible stuff.
  21. I remember some of the drama around that. Without warning CN's stuff was removed without even so much as an explanation. That was probably the start of when I began to realize LL wasn't the same place anymore. Especially considering the origins. They were ripping off (politely but still) the Lovers set of mods from a group of Japanese modders. It's in the freaking name of the site!! Now, true most of the Japanese modders didn't care but some sure did. Heck, I did the translations for a few of them way back. Permission? What the hell is that? Then we get to CN's situation which can easily be seen to be entirely fine even according to WW's own rules. So what the literal hell!?
  22. Not exactly... winterized... Here's a work in progress. Trying to get that Drow erm Dunmer look down. Also way too toothpickish in this case.
  23. OK, this is just elder abuse at this point. Get that guy in a rest home!
  24. I drop by very sporadically. Hence why I'm responding now. So if I understand this.... you actually don't have any problems until you load a saved family? And then when trying to use that family you hang on trying to load a house or... zone? That family has some shenanigans going on! There are some things that can be saved to the Sims Library that aren't readily apparent. Try starting with no mods at all, load that same family, then save it again in vanilla. Then activate your mods and see if the one saved in vanilla has problems too. Kind of annoying to lose all the accessories and makeup but it might clean it up. OR... make a brand new family. See if that has issues. (I could swear there's a tool to copy appearances somewhere but maybe not. ) If a totally new family has problems than it's definitely a mod at work. If you're having this much trouble I'd recommend picking either WW or DD but not both. Of the two, DD is considerably lighter on resources. But... WW has a lot more mods (most of which aren't... terribly functional I've found ) If you just install the base DD without the plugins you basically get WW light without all the bloat. I have done some testing related to this and WW did cause some interaction menu slowdowns when compared to DD. Also if you've got anything like MCCC (yeah I know, it's essential in certain cases) that can also cause major slowdowns in game. AND that one doesn't play well with DD. ColonelNutty makes a couple other utility mods that almost reproduce all of MCCC's functions. Almost. CC (meaning clothes and such) generally don't affect the game quite like scripted mods. If those have problems they can cause crashing when the model appears but usually they just get all screwed up. What they will do for sure, is increase your game load time. (When you start Sims.) The key with Sims 4 is to keep that mod folder organized so when problems like this arise, it's faster to find what started it. Even when adding new CC I always keep the new stuff in a folder for awhile and test it thoroughly in game before moving into confirmed working folders. And always label those script mods clearly or put in a note to remind you what they do. Those are the ones that break the most every update. Then again, I come from Bethsoft games which require extensive knowledge on... everything. So maybe I'm just paranoid now. PS: Regarding ModConflictDetector, that's really only best used for finding any duplicate mods you have. It doesn't really diagnose conflicts very well. (Go figure right? )
  25. Probably a script mod issue. You'll probably have to go do the usual annoyance: deactivating everything one by one till you arrive at full functionality. If you have anything aside from WW and DD that alters interactions that could be it too. The nice thing is Sims 4, for the most part, is pretty resilient when removing mods.
