If you've never heard of Schaken-Mods, now you have. This site started off, and probably still is, by stealing other people's mods and uploading them to their site just to have mods in their downloads. Over the years, I don't know if they cleaned up their act, but I did see mods that were uploaded without permission by a certain author who happened to be pissed her mods were uploaded there without her permission and eventually removed later on. Anyways, Not long from now I requested my account to be closed, because the site is just a cesspool of give me money and soon turned into forcing people to have to view ads or you are restricted from navigating the website until you disable blocked ads from their site. The next day or so, I was banned. Months had past and out of curiosity while I was searching for a specific type of mod, I noticed a link to their site of a mod I was curious to see. When I go to it, I'm indefinitely banned and cannot have access just to browse the site because requesting an account closure to them translated to ban. I'm not interested in returning regardless, but I just found it fucking funny an pathetic how that site is ran. The site is filled with mediocre waifu garbage for the most part, they leach of other sites in order to make themselves bigger than they really are. I snagged some mods, but most of it was either SSE or subscribe to our monthly pay to have access to exclusive mods.

There's a...Β  AHEM place online... that leaks paywalled mods. πŸ˜† I dropped by a couple months back. They had a bunch of Schaken stuff. I checked some of it out. Every single one: mediocre to garbage quality. Why anyone would pay for that crap is beyond me. πŸ˜†

As a side note, I've noticed much the same thing in the Sims 4 community. If it's paywalled, it's generally much lower quality. πŸ˜…

Speaking of... I use Tubi TV for movies. Any other recommendations? They lack in films.

For streaming I use these, but I don't know if any of these work in the states.

FMovies - Pretty comprehensive. Decent streaming quality. Didn't have Nightmare from my above post. Search is limited to titles. Relatively modern UI.

VK/video - This one is better for older films but they have some new. Search must be exact title. (One letter off and it can't find it.) Of course occasionally has Russian dubs. There is usually an english only version however. Streaming quality varies. If using on a phone/tablet, request the desktop site or it will spam you with login requests. UI is... less than optimal. πŸ˜…

bs.to - Mainly German and mainly for TV. Has a lot of English versions still. Search is limited, better to just check out the list. Streaming quality isn't the greatest. UI is straight out of the 90s. πŸ˜‚ I use this as a last resort if the other two fail to find what I'm after.

For picking up the films directly I use the usual suspects. (RARBG and 1337. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ)

It seems like when mods are free, creativity soars and we see a lot of really well made mods. And when Patreon and the likes exist, more mediocre mods are created. And people tend to run and support/pay for these low effort copy n paste follower mods at first glance.

This really seems to be true. When you get money in the mix it's like the quality takes a major nosedive. Even commercially. That CC stuff is ridiculous. πŸ˜†

The idea of "folding space" had already been around long before this movie. For instance, it was already in Dune novel (1965) and in many other sci-fi books . The idea originates from the idea of wormholes obviously. Traveling through warmholes is pretty much identical to "folding space". In the novel Contact (1985) by Carl Sagan, there's a network of these wormhole nodes that the MC travels through, which were built by an unknown ancient alien race or something (which is pretty much the idea that the Mass Effect series copied). It's all total BS and a fantasy, just like time travel.

    Β

No shade on the book but the film was so painful I still remember it. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ πŸ˜†

Right, but this is a movie recommendation list!

OK ran into this little gem:

    Nightmare 1956!

Great music too. They sure don't make them like they used to!! 😎

Can very likely find it for free on VK or maybe fmovies.

I was really interested in this film back in the day when its trailers were being shown on tv, I thought it would be a good sci-fi film, but I didn't have the time to watch it then. A few years later my sis bought the DVD, I watched it then and I didn't like it at all. It's a very poor film as a sci-fi and just a cliche horror movie with stupid supernatural, religious garbage. Never bothered to watch it again, still have the DVD somewhere.

I don't think I saw the whole thing. I do remember the crew becoming abnormally upset over the idea of making a functioning wormhole. I mean, wow guys. I guess space must be boring if they're that emotional over a wormhole. πŸ˜†

Just found the clip. I wouldn't hire these idiots to rescue a kitten from a tree. πŸ˜†

    Spoiler

    Β

I'm sure it's fun for the carnage though. πŸ˜†

Also, I didn't double check... but pretty sure they stole this "fold space-time" on several other films. This probably stole it from somewhere as well. πŸ˜†

  6. Speaking of LL.....Β  it's virtually unusable at this point between all the issues. The borked uploads issue still hasn't been fixed which is requiring anyone with a modern mod to use a mirror. There's the weirdly enforced rules (some mod authors getting banned for no apparent reason, etc.)

Now there's another major problem: Sims 4. I do play Sims 4 on occasion but LL is inundated with tons of new Sims 4 mods daily (most of which are low quality unfortunately). Anybody posting a new mod for anything gets buried within a couple hours. I've already missed new posts from several people I know just because they are off the new files list in a couple hours. πŸ₯΄

A ton of us did voice concerns on the "not so secret secret" section but they have been largely ignored. πŸ™ŠπŸ™‰πŸ™ˆ

    ****

However since this is the cringe thread......

Check out some of the research in the UK! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ₯΄

Apparently it got so much backlash they finally decided to take it down. 🀑

The problem is that California takes most of Lake Mead's water. They should've been desalinizing sea water, which seems like they will never do. Tired of having to support them. Even with their forest fires. Supposedly we use about or around 4% of Lake Mead's water. But given the crisis we are in, it still doesn't help growing our city until this issue gets resolved.

California, or shall we instead say Sacramento, regularly forgets the whole place is a desert. Rather than anything sane, they'll cut the water to crops then whine about (insert cause of the moment here) and do absolutely nothing as the rest of the state falls into complete chaos. They don't even take simple steps to store water for drought years and every single drought is a "surprise".

Forget the wall on the Mexican border, the US should build a wall around Sacramento, LA (cut off at Orange County of course 🀣) and San Francisco to keep all the loons in! 🀣 And after it's finished, build another one around DC. 🐲

    Β

Regarding the Meade thing, I was there several years ago and thought it was abysmally low. The rangers assured everyone "Oh it's just fine this is normal." Now this. πŸ™ˆπŸ™‰πŸ™Š

  8. At this point I don't believe those idiots could write even a partially decent plot so I'll just assume it's trash like normal from the beginning. 🀣

That said the game itself may, and it's very big may, have some modding potential. If it's a bit like No Man's Sky but with FO4 style settlements (hopefully a hell of a lot more fleshed out than the garbage in FO4)... there could be some fun to be had here. FO4's main issue (aside from obvious stuff like stupid plot and a non-working dialog system) was it gets REALLY old building settlements in that hell hole. No matter how green you make it, it still ends up ugly. 🀣 This game may not have that problem so it may be more of a success.

But it's Bethsoft, so assume the worst and at least have a chance at a pleasant surprise. 🀣

Remove what you don't need. Clean up Windoze.

Have you tried that personally? I used to do that a lot back in the XP days. Win10 LTSB is better than base Windows but there are still some things (Windows Defender πŸ™„...) I wouldn't mind axing. With a plasma axe. That turns what it touches into goo. πŸ˜†

  10. You mean everyone else isn't on Win10 LTSB? πŸ˜† No M$ store, no Cortana (whatever the hell that is), no or rather less M$ spying (still have to turns stuff off). It's actually a lot like Win 7 just with a snazzier base GUI.

When I see some of the crap in standard Win10/11... I do not know how people can even manage to use it without wanting to throw the machine out the nearest (real physical) window. 🀣

The other day I had to use a friend's laptop briefly.... ads everywhere, tons of crud, and I couldn't believe the resources wasted at idle. πŸ˜† I wouldn't be capable of using a setup like that for any length of time. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ˜†

  11. Yeah the baseless claims thing happened a lot on the Nexus too. At least back in my very brief Nexus days. I had a couple people I knew who the Nexus banned because they uploaded their -original- work after somebody else who made derivatives of the originals. Banned for uploading your own work. Incredible stuff. 🀣

I personally don't think LL knows what derivative works are, or how they can be applied to programs like CN's DD. Sure, it may use some of the same coding as WW but is it a copy/paste? Nope. The more I think about it someone can claim anything is a copy/paste of something else by that rationality.

I remember some of the drama around that. Without warning CN's stuff was removed without even so much as an explanation. That was probably the start of when I began to realize LL wasn't the same place anymore. Especially considering the origins. They were ripping off (politely but still) the Lovers set of mods from a group of Japanese modders. It's in the freaking name of the site!! 🀣 Now, true most of the Japanese modders didn't care but some sure did.

Heck, I did the translations for a few of them way back. Permission? What the hell is that? 🀣🀣

Then we get to CN's situation which can easily be seen to be entirely fine even according to WW's own rules. So what the literal hell!? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ πŸ˜†

  13. I drop by very sporadically. Hence why I'm responding now. πŸ˜†

So if I understand this.... you actually don't have any problems until you load a saved family? And then when trying to use that family you hang on trying to load a house or... zone? That family has some shenanigans going on!Β πŸ˜† There are some things that can be saved to the Sims Library that aren't readily apparent. Try starting with no mods at all, load that same family, then save it again in vanilla. Then activate your mods and see if the one saved in vanilla has problems too. Kind of annoying to lose all the accessories and makeup but it might clean it up. OR... make a brand new family. See if that has issues. (I could swear there's a tool to copy appearances somewhere but maybe not. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ)

If a totally new family has problems than it's definitely a mod at work.

If you're having this much trouble I'd recommend picking either WW or DD but not both. Of the two, DD is considerably lighter on resources. But... WW has a lot more mods (most of which aren't... terribly functional I've found πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ πŸ™ƒ) If you just install the base DD without the plugins you basically get WW light without all the bloat.Β  I have done some testing related to this and WW did cause some interaction menu slowdowns when compared to DD. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Also if you've got anything like MCCC (yeah I know, it's essential in certain cases) that can also cause major slowdowns in game. AND that one doesn't play well with DD. ColonelNutty makes a couple other utility mods that almost reproduce all of MCCC's functions. Almost. 🀣

CC (meaning clothes and such) generally don't affect the game quite like scripted mods. If those have problems they can cause crashing when the model appears but usually they just get all screwed up. What they will do for sure, is increase your game load time. (When you start Sims.)

    Β

The key with Sims 4 is to keep that mod folder organized so when problems like this arise, it's faster to find what started it. Even when adding new CC I always keep the new stuff in a folder for awhile and test it thoroughly in game before moving into confirmed working folders. And always label those script mods clearly or put in a note to remind you what they do. Those are the ones that break the most every update.

Then again, I come from Bethsoft games which require extensive knowledge on... everything. So maybe I'm just paranoid now. 🀣

    Β

PS: Regarding ModConflictDetector, that's really only best used for finding any duplicate mods you have. It doesn't really diagnose conflicts very well. (Go figure right? 🀣)

  14. Probably a script mod issue. You'll probably have to go do the usual annoyance: deactivating everything one by one till you arrive at full functionality. 😐

If you have anything aside from WW and DD that alters interactions that could be it too.

    Β

The nice thing is Sims 4, for the most part, is pretty resilient when removing mods.

  17. So... was chatting with some people about the Crisis of The Momentβ„’ (wonder what the next crisis will be?) and they're all supposedly "anti war". (Outside since here the nazi-pass is still a thing to go inside one of the few places still in business. πŸ™„) So I bring up the comment by a Ukranian military account announcing they'd execute surrendering Russian troops. Anti-war, so they'd naturally be against that I thought. NO! πŸ₯΄ πŸ˜† πŸ˜† They were all OK with it because "Russians are evil". That was their only justification!! They had absolutely no other argument. πŸ₯΄ And when were ALL Russians suddenly evil? When the media out here said so.Β πŸ₯΄Β πŸ€£

Anti-war but OK with full on war crimes and executions!? Now THAT is cringe! 🀣 🀣 At least make an attempt at consistency. πŸ˜†

I guess hating on the anti-vax groups (which are quite large here) wasn't going anywhere so now they have to hate on ALL Russians.  This planet is a full on crazy train. 🀑 🀣 What's the next "other" group we're allowed to irrationally hate next? 🀣 Whatever it is, there won't be any rational arguments for the hate, that's for sure! 🀣

    Β

EDIT: Just heard this from a friend. Earlier today on the news here: how to make proper molotov cocktails... "to throw at russians".   ........  🀑 OK, I want the first UFO off this nutty dirt ball!

I'm too lazy to jump to high poly head meshes on Skyrim. I have the bad habit of sticking to what I have and not changing. And I don't think anyone can express enough how bad the low poly head mesh is. I don't know why I torture myself.

In SE you just switch face parts in racemenu. You also have to get some high poly eyebrows as well. It comes with default vanilla but who wants that? There are bunch for Kallilies, and others on the Nexus now though.

High poly faces in FO4 are even more annoying. FO4 requires you to run a batch script. And you of course can't do it at the game start or it goes bonkers. 🀭 FO4 face tools are horrific though. I think that's why everyone looks the same. 🀣

I found a shot of my ABSOLUTE last attempt at something in FO4. Now of course in Skyrim (or Sims) this would be immediately tossed in the nearest trash bin. πŸ˜†

    Spoiler

    image.png.9ec46e39df292369a3cc1202fe360ddf.png

Even looking now I want to rearrange most of the face. Those FO4 tools though are migraine inducing. 🀣

The "high poly" faces in Skyrim aren't all that high poly really. But they at least match the bodies more closely. The vanilla faces are seriously awful. For my vanilla heads I'd get exactly one chin working, then never touch it again for all my subsequent faces. 🀣

    Β

Sims 4 I actually really like the face tools provided you have some decent skin textures. There are some replacers that help on the low poly part a little but there's not a lot that can be done there. If it gets too high, good luck getting it to run.

I apparently cleared out my Sims 4 screenies (have to take more when I get back to that) except for this quite boring one.

I think that shot is pretty old. I don't even recognize her as one of my usuals. There is the Cheshire Cat however. Despite being immortal he always seems to get sick. Probably just to annoy. 🀣
