Welp, too early for a congratulations. xD

It was indeed trying to phone home. I missed the FlexNet licensing folder and the registry settings. Installing that fixed the error, but I still couldn't get past the splash screen.

Enough of my hardheadedness. I just installed a Windows 7 virtual machine. It's time for me to get back to modding.

That just proves that many, even complex programs such as this can run on Linux and that the companies are actively trying to prevent it. Not because of security issues but because they don't want it on Linux. Likely due to some back room bullcrap from Windows. Just like the online games anti cheat. Can work easily. Hell if it doesn't there is an army of people willing to assist. They likley would sign a NDA just to get it to work. They can give binaries no problems that is done with other sources as well. Purist won't be able to use it but the common person would be able to.

I'm tempted to keep trying, though. Using software on a single operating system is very convenient. I easily got Cinema 4D R4 running using Bottles, and it works just as well as it does on Windows. With R4, I can do this:

It is still on the same OS. It is running through a virtual emulator etc. You aren't dual booting. the beautiful thing with this is you can mess all you want and not harm much. Learning along the way. Making it easier to put other things into bottles.

Yes, briefly a couple of times. I found the documentation not to be on the same level as Debian based distros. It is close but IMO I need to have more experience using Linux before I move to that. Also keep in mind that this is a "rolling release" which means that some things might not be as stable as Debian or even Red Hat etc. It is bleeding edge and likely has the gaming tools more advanced than Debian or even Red Hat Fedora,

I used Manjaro to install it both times so that i had some installation assistance instead of doing it the hard way.

I just thought of a thing. Throw Arch on a virtual machine and test it out for a bit. Just to get the bugs out and to know if you have the basics down and are ready to start diggin in. Tha tis if you don't hvae a spare computer (like I had )
