Guest Posted August 25, 2025 Posted August 25, 2025 (edited) I remember back in the day when I knew very little about PC hardware. Seems like it was yesterday. I think you were one of the few who broke it down to me over on LL over a decade ago. lol Had I not learned, I wouldn't have ever built a PC 3 years ago. I was always fascinated by the idea of building one, but it was always intimidating. That fear overwhelmed me for a very long time. Though, I have to admit that I sure picked the worse time to build one. But even now, GPU prices are just stupid high. Edited August 25, 2025 by endgameaddiction Quote

Though, I have to admit that I sure picked the worse time to build one. But even now, GPU prices are just stupid high. GPU pricing should be a quarter to at most half the cost of the computer. So if your motherboard, processor, ram, hard drive, case and power supply cost 2000 dollars the GPU should be 500 dollars but that isnt' what is happening now. There are 2500 dollar (and more) cost for CONSUMER GRAPHICS CARDS. Look I know professional graphic cards can easily go into the thousands of dollars. You need it for graphing and such for your job, that is one thing. NO consumer graphics card should cost that much. That is just INSANE. Yes I remember you asked me some questions on a build you were interested in as well as some tech solutions to problems you had. It was some time ago. Quote
ritualclarity Posted August 25, 2025 Author Posted August 25, 2025 In case you need a new computer and not make it insane price (for anyone that is in that boat and don't have an idea and wants to pay a reasonable amount. Notice how they were able to get a decent result from their 1000 dollar gaming PCs? Their cards were 500 dollars or less. NO need for 3500 dollar cards Quote
Doublezero Posted September 7, 2025 Posted September 7, 2025 Okay, I'm confused. I want to buy 3600 MHz RAM (specifically this ram kit) for this motherboard. From what I understand, this motherboard's RAM can only be overclocked to 3600 MHz. Does the RAM run at 3600 MHz right out of the box, or do I need to overclock it? Quote

Deopening on your setup you might need to go in and do some tweaks to get the full speed and response out of your memory. https://www.claimdepot.com/settlements/ddr4-and-ddr5-desktop-memory-speed-settlement one company even has a settlement for not "really" having their memory at that speed. Some youtube videos should set you right. 1 Quote
Doublezero Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I see dirt-cheap RAM and GPUs in the near future. 1 Quote
ritualclarity Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 hey, make all the data centers you want. So long as you also create the power plants to power them. Build them bigger than you need so you can have coverage to expand. You can then sell the excess off at market rates for what you don't use. Quote
Doublezero Posted yesterday at 06:29 PM Posted yesterday at 06:29 PM Browsing Ebay, I still see old laptops with RAM still installed. I like to know what kind of laptops he buys. Quote

I like to know what kind of laptops he buys. I have seen many older hardware on the various sites. However, that is ddr3 or ddr4 not ddr5. I believe looking at some of the laptops that he was unloading they are possibly ddr5 computers. That combined with the statement that he wanted to give people computers that they can use 5 or more years would IMO be more modern. With the release of DDR 5 Quote DDR5 memory was officially released in July 2020, with the standard finalized by the JEDEC, though specific manufacturer chips and modules began rolling out in late 2020 and saw broader adoption starting in 2021, following platforms like Intel's Alder Lake and AMD's Ryzen 7000 series later. It is likely those computers that just was released from lease and business upgrades. I personally tend to stick with the DDr4 type computers. New enough to be good if it was a powerful computer to begin with and old enough that it should be very cheap and still give me some use. Before DDR5 went crazy I did pick up some hardware that was much newer as it was a great price. But now, it is almost impossible. Quote
