  1. Nice idea. However, I would suggest something other than a mask. This is because it would obscure the face of the player character. Equipping it would stop them from seeing their character's face, which many players might feel a great connection to. I'd suggest a necklace or something that would be used instead. It is still visible so you can create a pendant that shows something desirable but wouldn't block the face. https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Amulets_(Skyrim)
  2. for those that might want to start to learn without an added computer to test on.
  3. OH, nice. MIght have to do this myself. One of my machines (currently with 11 laptop) has an ability to run a second drive. I can also do that if / when I get comfortable with my gaming machine. I did that a long time ago. (remove the drive) However, didn't have a boot option. I had to use the bios to do it. A pain in the but. It worked however didn't mess things up.
  4. Some information since Windows 10 has been discontinued. I suggest Linux Mint first if you want to get into Linux. I suggest Silverblue or one of the options they offer (Red Hat ) for unmutable OS. Reason for the Silverblue is you can't mess up the OS as you learn. However, not good for someone that want's to learn Linux as you have to jump through hoops to do work that Linux people take for granted.
  5. Try Ventoy @Doublezero I suggest it as you likely have mutiple OS's that you are using between various computers. This allows the ISO to be installed into a partition and selected when you boot the USB. Rufus is aweseme but it can only work one OS at a time. Meaning you need mutiple USB drives to have all your OS's. I used Ventoy and created two larger USB drives and have a copy of the OS's on both. If something happens to one I have a spare without the need to download the OS again. I can also have older OS's ready. Since it is still an ISO I can transfer it to a drive and make it a VM. (I assume I can just access the drive partition and do it directly but haven't done it yet. Having some problems with VM (on my windoze machine) and my Linux machines aren't really strong enough to do much on a virutal machine.
  6. My entire LInux laptop FEELS FASTER. This is even on a old Windoze 10 machine that wouldn't qualify for even the minimum of Windoze 11
  7. It was installed using flatpacks. That is the only way that I know it comes in.
  8. I tried bottles some time ago but kept on having issues running a program. Any program. It just didn't click
  9. Yep it can be a bit challenging. I haven't been able to try myself so can't help much there. (due to not having a setup for it to even try. Not going to mess up my dedicated windows gaming machine to try)
  10. Which virtual machine program are you using. Some aren't set up well to do this. If you are having a problme with one try another. Also don't forget Looking Glass. I hear that is the next step so that you don't need a dedicated monitor. It outputs (with a very small delay) to the monitor like a program so far as I have been able to understand. I don't have a set up to be able to experiment. However, it should be very much like you adding a USB, sound or other device to the system. Don't forget to turn immou in the BIOS
  11. With windoze 10 going away, I thought I'd post something for those that need a little bit of Windoze but not everything and thinking about Linux for their daily driver. The goal should be to move everything over except exclusively windoze programs that are required (for work or such) you will find that there are many programs that can do the work you want to do. You will have too likely to change your work flow, but many times it actually ends up being better once you give it a chance. Not all the time. Keep in mind that Linux software is build for a task or job for FREE. Anytime you have people throwing large amounts of money for a specific job, it will be developed for that job well. Not to say Linux is horrible, but that it won't fit if you say need Divinci Resolve flow or special formats etc. For that, you can often just virtualize the program. At worse, you can dual boot or have a dedicated work computer for this work and "Share" the drive you are sending this information on. I have my monitor setup where it has a button on the corner under the monitor. A click and I can change to a different input. So I can have two computers with one monitor without the often expensive KVM switch You can also try Bazzite if you aren't going to play online games. This however would possibly need a newer computer but not too new. Linux new (last 5 to 10 years lol) https://bazzite.gg/ Lots of excellent reviews on Bazzite. It is a new system but really backed by many companies trying to develop stand alone hand held computer for gaming. They are tired of the Windoze bullshit as well! Can you blame them? So it is really well developed and strongly worked on. Great for Linux overall. It is inmmutable which means the OS can't be borked by you. You can't easily do a command that can screw things up. It also saves things as an Image. Which means the OS can be restored to a previous version easily with a command. A simple command. Your programs you added are seperate and isolated as well as your data so all is reasonably safe. Well safer than windoze .. and as well as Linux to put it bluntly. Because you can't really mess it up. Feel free to look up Immutable OS as well as reviews for Bazzite. I can't use Bazzite because the computers i have are (Linux old) works well for basic computing but not for anything intensive as video editing (beyond simple clip editing no transistors etc) but specifically gaming. Well 3d gaming that is. I have one good machine for gaming but that is deditated to Windows 11. But why do you ask I have that if Bazzite is so good?
  12. With the upcoming death of windoze 10 how about a flash back Back to when Microsoft tried to make their computers as compatible as possible. I never upgraded my i386 to Windoze 95. It was too expensive and didn't make sense for me.
  13. This just shows that Microsoft is a company that shouldn't be around anymore. A decent company would have an extension for Windoze 10 so that people that they can then update their computers. I personably like Ventoy. ( I haven't used it for Window install ... yet, but it works well with Linux and tools. There is no reason it wouldn't work for Windoze) I have used Rufus as well (but again not for Widoze) and it worked for all sorts of tools and operating systems. They all pretty much work the same and shouldn't have a problem. I mention that a decent company would just make an extension until a solid fix was done as they 1. want you to use their tool and 2. they are forcing an upgrade for a functional system. A system by the way that you can still continue to use after the discontinuation as they have security updates. Security updates that they can give if they weren't assholes and greedy mother fuc*ers. Let's keep in mind that many that use Windows. Correction, many that RELY on Windoze daily don't have the skills to fool around with this . This makes this occurrence extremely stressful. There have been some people that I have met that asked me to install Linux on their perfectly fine working Windoze computers due to all this stress and . I denied them doing it because it isn't just an installation. If they run into an issue, and they can't even install an alternate OS, they are screwed. Of course, I offered to help them through the process and provided various YouTube videos for this as well as sources of information. Even that, with me as a source to help, stressed them out so much that they said F**k it. All that Windoze is doing is screwing up those in most need for basic easy reliable computing. (Yes, I am spelling Windows as Windoze. .)
  14. There is new bullshit happeing now. I am getting a warning about windoze being outdated and giving a countdown. Now if that happened on the actual windoze computer that would be one thing but it is happening on a windoze 11 computer. A WINDOWS 11 computer. Now lets fill in some background. This is a work computer. At work they have NO WINDOWS 10 MACHINES. Get that. So it can't be that they are seeing my computer and knowing there is a windows 10 machine on the system. There aren't any. I had to shut that down mutiple times today when I opened anything related to microsoft. (I believe mostly Outlook) for work. A blue bar across the top that messes with the information and other stuff. You have to address it if you want full control and get to business. Seriously, they need to go out of business and their source code released so that other operatiing systems that respect people can access it and make it compatable for older windoze software.
  15. DC Universe. I played some more and got to understand the game a bit more so good. But not good. It started to show repetition .. BADLY. Cool stuff is hidden behind pay wals but you can progress reasonably well without much effort. It is also a mash button type of game. NO real game plan etc. I don't play online games so I don't know if that is part and parcel of what that entails.
  16. If it is about privacy etc. Then get yourself a disposable email etc. So long as they aren't demanding your actual ID to post on it. (fuck any Discord channel that does that. ) then it should be good. Then you can use that. Create a private browser or better yet use some browser that you aren't currently usinjg. Better yet use a linux machine! lol. (Seriously, this is likely on a gaming machine, so you can virtualize one and then use a vpn even free who cares. They see your post on Discord wop de do. There are ways to do this smart. That is if you are concerned with privacy etc. If you are like FUCK DISCORD (can't blame you there) then nothing you can do.
  17. Played a bit of th is It was Free so no real expectations. Tomorrow I might play Vampyr I played this previously when I had XBOX Live. It was included. Now I found it was on sale for I believe 50% (or better.) it was only a couple of bucks with the DLC being 2.99. Not bad. I needed some console playing time. (I choose console for casual non modable games to sit back and relax. I can't get serious with a controller)
  18. I will start. I recently started playing The Walking Dead. Only played the first episode. (it was free on Xbox). It is pretty good but can get boring pretty quickly. Didn't have the profound changes due to your actions as I was under the impression that it was going to be. However, There are many episodes and perhaps the choices compound across the many episodes. There were a few changes that were noticeable. I enjoyed the game but only briefly. Not worth the full price that they had the game at when it was released years ago IMO, but good for free or if you find you like it, 5 bucks or less. I'm bouncing around and might play a different game today. This episode was very short. Not wanting to pay for the next one, at least now. Maybe later?
  19. What Ya' Playin' ? I'm starting this thread so that people can tell others what they are currently playing. Perhaps, even join an online game with someone else if they desire. Discuss said game that is being played (or popular) The key concept is what you are currently playing. This will change of course over time. This thread is also not intended for a review of the game beyond some basics. For a real and proper review of a game, please feel free to create a post on said game, unless one is already created for that game. PLEASE, IF THERE IS ANY INFORMATION ON ACTUAL GAME PLAY OR CHOICES, PLACE THESE IN A SPOILER SO AS TO NOT SPOIL THE GAME FOR OTHERS. For those that are new and don't know. Push the icon of an eye, then place your comments or other things inside the box that is created. Thank You.
  20. Check your emails if you are concerned.

  21. Make sure all the mods are current. Also make sure you have all the requirements. These two situations are the most common for CTD for any modded game.
  22. Way smaller problems (generally) than windoze
