The Oblivion Remaster Thread
ritualclarity replied to Doublezero's topic in Oblivion General Discussion
Once I understood that they packed UE over the original game and that Bethesda doesn't support mods and never will. I lost all interest. The mods that you add to the game for the original game is so good that it can easily raise the graphics and looks without paying for the game again. As the video states the "good changes" I am fairly confident that mod authors can add these to the old game reasonably easily. Sure, the game looks aged, but I don't condemn the game for that. It looked good at the time it was released. People loved the look. I don't understand why people think they need to have perfectly good-looking old game looking modern. If you need a modern look, the game should be reworked FULLY. Then to not have modding options or support for a game that has historically been modded... that is an added red flag. All this and they didn't fix the stupid AI. Hell, if you fixed the stupid AI and fixed all the bugs which has already been fixed by mod authors with some tweaks here and there that people have praised you might have a nice release. However, not for FULL PRICE. I am sorry. I know games are pushing to go 80 dollars for new for AAA games and such, but that hasn't happened fully yet. Don't come here with a rework that is poor at best and then expect to get at or near current full price for games now. I never wanted to buy the game however, I did have a temptation for about half a day with the praises and videos (from fanboys of course) to open my subscription to Microsoft Xbox to get to play it for a bit. If it was superb, I might have bought it when it was 20-50% off, depending on how much I liked it. I don't want to subscribe to Microsoft. I buy the game I want on Xbox (which is rare) Those games require a leisure easy game play for casual gaming. Think Hogwarts. Easy shit. Most games I want a keyboard to play, and to be honest, ALL Bethesda games are keyboard games. For me at least. -
India should just take the rest. Save everybody headaches. I believe Russia is the country that is supporting this as well as some Middle East. Russia is busy at the moment and crashing their economy, and the Middle East has other battles to fight. Now would be the time.

The Video Game Music Appreciation Thread

I seen this many years ago (music not the video) -
Which means it is qualified for your purchase. LOL. They seem to be adding and working on things based on their fans and early adopters suggestions. So that is a plus.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2658450/LOLLIPOP_CHAINSAW_RePOP/ LOL. From the video(s) this has to be the furthest from SJW that one game can be and not be an XXX game. lol. I don't have it but ... at least it isn't following the "Agenda"

I've liked some of the stuff I have seen on ODysee. Also many YouTubers have moved or have videos there. Some of the times they are more extensive or have the "content" that isn't allowed on Youtube. You are getting more of what they are trying to create there. It appears to be freer. I don't like the subscription model that they use as I can't view some stuff without subscribing ($$$) for their content. I understand as they aren't being supplemented by YouTube or the advertisers as much (as far as I understand of course) as they would on YouTube. Warrning. some of the stuff there is WAY out there. LOL. I like that it is open that way. Just have to really work to make sure you are getting actual facts as it is pretty bias ... but you are also able to get news and thoughts that are outside what is "acceptable" in United States now (due to the stuff @Kendo 2 mentioned previously. I liked this person on Youtube but he moved to Odyssy for more freedom (from what i undestand) https://odysee.com/@rossmanngroup:a/dcs-reports-me-to-australian-government:8

The Oblivion Remaster Thread

Yep, stupid AI. This game needed a rework of the AI. It was great when the game was released. NOt so great now. -
I am still concerned with the end results. They will be leaving early access to be released, but I will still need to see some actual game play preferably from reviewers that I can trust. Before I can even begin to determine if this is a game for me. Typically, I am not interested in spell and sword games, however I have had some experiences that I did enjoy.

It is still on the same OS. It is running through a virtual emulator etc. You aren't dual booting. the beautiful thing with this is you can mess all you want and not harm much. Learning along the way. Making it easier to put other things into bottles.

The first video showing the same stupid AI that the original game had was the end of my "honeymoon". Shame it took everybody else longer. -
That just proves that many, even complex programs such as this can run on Linux and that the companies are actively trying to prevent it. Not because of security issues but because they don't want it on Linux. Likely due to some back room bullcrap from Windows. Just like the online games anti cheat. Can work easily. Hell if it doesn't there is an army of people willing to assist. They likley would sign a NDA just to get it to work. They can give binaries no problems that is done with other sources as well. Purist won't be able to use it but the common person would be able to.

Windows keep on doing what they do. It will go up.

The studio that worked on Oblivion remake. "Hey, Bethesda, what you want us to do. ?" Bethesda "Make an awesome remake of Oblivion" Studio working on the remake. "What you expect is impossible. This is what we expect will be the result of what you are telling us to do" Bethesda "Awesome. We will charge the same amount of money as a full game and the customers will eat it up and praise us again" -

The Oblivion Remaster Thread

But it is beautiful! That is what people are saying! The whimsical coloring and ethereal architecture was bad. The massive amount of green was bad. Brown is good! Haze is good. We just don't know what we are talking about. Give it a bit and people will start to seriously see the flaws and problems. It is sad, but understandable. The underlying story was from a time when real RPGs were made by Bethesda. Bethesda which WAS a company that set the standards for RPGs. Them along with Bioware were blowing customers away with their games. People were fond of those games and once they saw what looked like a great re-release they got excited and carried away. I admit, I got carried away as well. It looked good at first and thoughts of perhaps they actually released something decent. It isn't horrible but it isn't the re-release that we deserved. They should have just took everything and put it on Unreal Engine not just the graphics. It would have took a bit longer but it would have been very likely much more solid and much better. Especially if they weren't going to release their dam store and support mods. The whole reason to use Gamebro is for modding tools and flexibility that they had since way back in Morrowind days perhaps even earlier. -

Talking about mouths and faces... How about At first glance, the new "remastered' version looks quite good. However, It might be me, but the OG version looks pretty spectacular. With added mods and upgrades for looks, It can be quite satisfying as far as I am concerned. I am honestly concerned about the Unreal Engine tacked on the Gamebro system. Gambro was fragile as it was. That combined with the refusal to support mods in any way makes me very concerned. Perhaps they seriously thought mods would overwork the system? This is considering how much they love their mod stores, after all. Added review for essentially free and they are giving that up. -

What else did they "forget". Quality control was lax IMO. Let's see how long before they patch that. If it is fast, then they are doing a good job. It shouldn't be hard to fix if it was forgoten. -
If they were providing quality reporting, they wouldn't have a problem getting a job. They wouldn't need to worry, They could group up and create their own reporting themselves (even with a non compete since they were terminated). People with skills in demand will always have a job. Will always land on their feet. They were never really in demand, and definitely not now. The only demand they might have had was with Sweet Baby inc or the like. Not the public. Likely DOGE removed their paycheck and now these companies are failing and failing bad. It is amazing that some good is already coming out in movies and games. Even if they are still shit. They aren't as shitty as they have been. (not looking at you, Snow White. ) Sure some of the turds were backed up for quite a bit waiting to come out (like Show turd). Hopefully this trend continues. They can have a good job if they can stop drinking the Kool-Aid and actually report without the SJW or whatever other bullshit agenda they have. REAL reporting. This will likely never happen, as they have been lobotomized and can't imagine that THEY are wrong. That NOBODY wants to listen to their crap. Entertainment should be ENTERTAINMENT FIRST. Everybody hates diversity. NOPE. They hate FORCED DIVERSITY without any meaning or purpose. An example is from as far back as 2005 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Feet_Under_(TV_series) Critically acclaimed series. Covering all the key bases that many of the SJW would love to see on the screen. They were critically acclaimed because they created ENTERTAINMENT. Every character and what they did had PURPOSE and MEANING. There are many other examples where such things have been included, and the consumers LOVED IT. Their agenda failed because it was MEANINGLESS drivel. Forced bullshit where it wasn't needed to cover checkboxes. Talentless individuals (like those that were recently fired from Polygon) who couldn't or just wouldn't create entertaining and engaging content. I don't want or wish anyone to be jobless. It sucks. It really does. However, in this case, they are in desperate need to change careers, or at a minimum wake the fuck up and realize that what they were doing isn't marketable. They need to make major changes and really bring real changes in their work, or continue to be jobless. Crying and petitioning people to support them for the crap they create isn't going to work. Think of it this way. A murder claiming that he was defending himself is getting hundreds of thousands of dollars, and they got fired and nobody wants to hire them. How far off the mark can you be before you understand what is going on? Well thank you and not, it is time to get off my soap box. LOL, Have a great day!

Game Story Setting
ritualclarity replied to Doublezero's topic in OpenTales: An open source RPG built using the OpenMW engine
you can use a "stargate" like structure. It can have an opening to the space you want and your NPCs and player can just walk through. If your game has that level of technology. Or you could go the way of something created by a previous race that nobody really understands. You could use some of the tricks that Fallout did with Zeta. The scene where you start to be abducted. Those should be easier to do. As far as my limited understanding takes me. lol. Just depends on your story. -
the sad things is they think they were doing a great job.
