Hello Anatriax and all,

I was waiting for your updated guide to come out, but recently found out it was stopped and then this popped up. So here i am to help.

I decided to follow your guide but skip over some stuff to see if i could get a stable, beautiful Skyrim with good FPS and little to no crashes. And i feel i have managed to do this, my knowledge is albeit limited but i wish to help anyone struggling with getting Windows 10 to play nice with Skyrim. Before we begin let me note that my system is pretty beefy so take this post with a grain of salt.

Closing notes:

I just want to take this chance to say a huge thank you to Anatriax for his amazing guide and help that he has given everyone. You are awesome dude. ;) and to everyone else if you have read up to this point and managed to decipher my terrible grammar and english, then you deserve a big cookie. (i will not mail you one! :D)

This should be what you're looking for. It has pretty much every capability that Bodyslide and Outfit Studio offer.

Hi Ana, i was wondering if are going to do something similar to what this guy did. Using merged plugin he created an all in one esp merging a lot of bug fixes into one- i used it in this play through and it worked well. Its called Bug Fix merged http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72534/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D72534%26preview%3D&pUp=1

it contains To Quote;

Most of the bug fixes were from when game first came out. That's why it should be place at top of load order. Since that time many, but not all, have been incorporated into other mods. Put them all in there, this way if there's a fix not corrected by another mod, then you are covered. And if a bug is incorporated into another mod, then the bug fix in this is overwritten by that mod.

CURRENT Phase 1 posted in guide thread.

If anyone has any ideas for changes to this phase, please bring that to my attention.

Expand

I have a question, and also observations or possible corrections, and I hope this is the place to put that.  If not, let me know!

First, my question-   I am just now doing a clean install of Skyrim, trying to go by your guide exclusively.    While I was doing Phase 1, it changed.  :)    Although I have a basic understanding of mods, it does take me a long time to install them and understand what I am doing, and try to get it correct.  (even while following a good guide!)     Also, I don't have a lot of time to do it all in one afternoon-  I just finished phase 1, and it will be a couple days or more before I get time to do another phase.  and so on and so on...

So my question is,  is there a point that I should wait to start?    I am concerned that as you are testing, and changing, lets say I get to phase 4, and you may go back and change something in phase 3, (just using them as examples),  how would that affect things, if I am already past something you change, but not finished yet?

And just some observations, as I was trying to follow phase 1-

Regarding Mod Organizer -   I installed version 1.3.10, because in the guide, it said do 1.3.5, but I figured 10 was just the latest version posted since you wrote your guide, and you would mean install the latest version.  Now I see it is changed to say 1.3.8 is the latest "suppoerted" version.    Should I go back and redo this?

From step 7 to step 8, it seemed there were some steps missing.  After step 7, a window does not open, until you click manual, or custom install.    I got it to where it needed to be on step 8, because I had done it before, and recognized setting the data directory, but for someone that has never used MO or done this, they may be really lost.

Also, when you get to the end of the MO install, and move it to the top of unmanaged, do you go ahead and click the box to turn it on, like the other mods?

Regarding LOOT - When you go to the link provided, there is nothing labeled beta archive.    I just got the v0.8.1.7z and hoped that was the right one you meant.     But in following the rest of the steps, when I clicked add and close, it did nothing.   I expected it to add it to the other programs listed in that box, Skyrim, Skyrim Launder, and SKSE, but it did not.  nothing happened, so that confused me.    I pointed the binary to the proper location, and put the arguments in.

ok, got to run, but thought I would post that, and again, if its the wrong place, or not correct for here, let me know!

and thank you for your hard work on this!

The current SUPPORTED version (as for use of this guide) is 1.3.8

Expand

However the link you provide gives you 1.3.10. The Nexus site gives the supported version in the "old files" section.

Under SKSE installation.

You have a photo missing. Also you state

5) Copy the contents, minus the .7z archive, into your Skyrim folder.

Expand

After creating a 7zip file the data folder is still active and there. It would or could be copied over to the game folder preventing a clean install of the Data later through MO. What I do is open the downloaded zip.. drag the files minus the data folder over to the main folder for Skyrim. Then use the same folder through MO and select the data folder as well the "data folder" for MO and it installs it. I keep the Skse folder in MO's download for future needs if it arise. However this might be more complex for your users. Just putting it out there.

I tried but I can't insert photos here. Don't know why. Can't really place a simple tutorials. Could I guess direct them to LL in the mean time.

Issue Loot:

On the page you direct them to. There are many different downloads and those that don't understand could have some issues with downloading LOOT for their game. Also Loot comes internal with MO now and is pretty good on its own. Unless there is some reason for the heavier form of LOOT (MO grabs the Loot records and stores it from what I know) might be a step that can be avoided to more stream line this tutorial. Your load order can be sorted inside MO using the "sort' button. Again just putting it out there. Remember you wanted me to work this :P..

To be clear I downloaded Loot v0.8.1.7z I'd post a photo but apparently can't or don't know how. I likely will be using LOOT that is part of MO myself. If later I find you have a reason for the full version I will just drop it in. It is an easy fix later. ;)

Issue Notepad

The version you are linking is the older version. Current version is 6.9. I already have that version installed and configured. Is there any reason to have the older version? From the link you give it shows on the left the current version. If there is a reason for the older one I suggest that you let your readers know, if not I suggest we move to the newer version.

I'll fix those links, ASAP.

@Pkatt
1) These guides are always subject to change, without notice, and at the drop of a hat. Especially in the case where a bug, typo, or broken link is found.

2)  It's best to use 1.3.8 of MO. Mostly because with 1.3.10 I've noticed issues downloading mods from Nexus directly.

3) I'll rework and restate that everything about MO and LOOT shortly. Currently, the guide is mostly going to be directly ported from LL, JUST to get the guide up and running. Well. The first 4 phases, anyway...

Issue Core Park Utility.

The link you give is the older one. There is a new beta. Not sure if you tested it yet or advise using the older one (if it is available) Might want to take a peek at this to see if it is something you want. Also it doesn't state it is setup for Windows 10 ;). Could cause some problems if tested for 7, 8, 8,1

Yes, I'm currently using the beta, and this is one of the updates that will be made in the guide. Phase 1 won't get entirely updated tonight, because I'm going to go through and reword some things. ;)

Issue Smart Close.

The site is directed to another site and is blocked by my anti-security suite as being on a list of unsafe sites to go to. Might be something on that page (ad) or something but it is being blocked. My Anti-virus software has been pretty good at detecting stuff. Like I said the item might be good but something might have been bad on that site. Perhaps there might be a different link or source to go through as some others might hit the same situation.

And that ends my setup for Phase I. I likely will not need the Smart Close as I have tons of ram and a beefy system. If so I can add this later as I don't think this is contingent on being installed and configured for something else to be set up.

I hope I wasn't too much of a pain in the ass during this process.

Well as the stages continue it will take more and more time to process and some of your parts I will have to follow what you have placed as I don't know as much about HDT and ENBs. ;).

:) I think you will like how I have things set up. The images I sent to you earlier were just with ENB out of the box. I made a few small tweaks, and will probably upload my enbseries.ini as part of that phase, to allow people to use the same settings.

About HDT... it's all about making sure things are arranged properly in the left pane of MO (or installed in the proper order for those that use NMM). Mostly, you have to make sure that XPMS-E isn't overwritten by anything, and that the HDT xml files aren't overwritten.
