It looks like more layoffs are needed.

Where I work, they fired some people that were popular and it shut down the entire place for weeks. During a time when there was a heavy need for people to get the work done, nothing.  I wonder with this "Celebration & Service" memorial if this isn't the same situation. The mention that they will march regarding the layoffs.  So instead of focusing on the task at hand, they rather focus on other stuff. @Doublezero has it right. More needed to be laid off. I hate to wish something like that but it is possible that a contamination has gone that deep.

From what I can tell from other articles it sounds like they were MASSIVELY overstaffed.  This staffing was seriously inefficient. Too many bosses. To many steps and too many people making decisions and having to be checked in with to do a basic task. That isn't good for the company or the employees. IMO at least.

Personally, I view the remasters like warmed over dog 💩.

I believe if they "remaster" these games they need to truly go in and rebuild the game from the gound up. Update the graphics. Update the engine to the newest one used for the Elder Scrolls 6 or Starfield whatever.  Update the tools.  When remastering, they need to go back to the roots of the game. Restore cut content now that computers can run the assets. For example FNV split up New Vegas city.  They can open it up, restore missing or cut side quest etc. Flesh it out a bit. That would be a remaster worth talking about. Not slapping some  graphic 💩 over the top and calling it a day like they did for Oblivion.  Hell, they even told the community not to mod it. Talk about stupid. Nobody is talking about the remasterd Oblivon anymore.

Oh, now they care about the fans? I thought they hated the fans. Now that these woke, purple-haired, activist developers are facing layoffs, they want the fans to back them up. They won't get that from me.

Todd said modders made 10 million through Creation Club, ChatGPT says modders make 37.5% of the profits, so Bethesda roughly made 27 million with Creations. Assuming my math is correct, this whole thing is a big failure.

We don't know how much they make daily. The majority of the money could have been made when Starfield was released, for all we know.

27 million for work they essentially free money. What the bandwith and some hosting expenses. What else would this project cost them?

This is an angle I usually don't consider when I bash Creation Club. :P

We don't know how much it costs to run Creation Club, but let's use Wikipedia as an example. In 2025, Wikipedia spent $3.4 million on hosting. Creation Club launched at the end of August 2017, so that's roughly nine years. If my numbers are correct, they're making $3 million a year — and that's a stretch, considering how bad the console market is currently. If their hosting expenses are similar to Wikipedia's, I doubt it's bringing in enough money right now to justify it.

Other costs include curation, but they allow almost anything to be sold there, so I doubt it's much. Bug fixing? From what I've seen, they don't fix them. So the costs are probably strictly for hosting. 🤣

I will concede that it is probably cheaper for them to pay 37.5% to modders than to hire someone full-time to produce Creation Club content.

Interesting follow up.  I believed hositng is pretty cheap even at this level considering the pay back. I believe you are correct with the added cost for bug fixing and curation. I doubt much work goes in to the curation except perhaps a check to make sure it doesn't host maleware or something (software). As for bug fixing I'd imagine they make the creator fix the bugs.

There is another "cost" as places state that they "support" the modders. However, how far that happens is anyone's guess unless someone comes forward and talks. Likley they have a NDA on their contracts with Bethesda.

The added profit is there is new "DLCs" (lol) for customers to explore. Used as a stop gap to the extremely long time between releases might be a benifit. I've met some people that have no problem with Bethesda's Creation Club and use it and even like some of the products there. (Disclaimer, they are new to the franchise coming from the popularity of the Fallout Series on Prime and likely are used to microtransactions etc. )

My unnecessary and unsolicited thoughts on all of the Bethesda news and game journo/Youtuber speculations; we simply don't know how this will play out.  Here's MY uninformed predictions.

The Fallout3 and NewVegas remasters will be sanitized for modern audience bullshit (body type 1 and 2, things that weren't offensive to begin with being removed, etc.)  Look at how innocuous Oblivion was and what they did with the remaster.  Bonus points for using Unreal Engine 5 so it's a pain in the ass to mod.

SOME of the devs responsible for Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 are still employed at Obsidian.  That's a couple of great games right there so I can't wait to see how hard they fumble with this new Obsidian Fallout.  Commie simulator with a shit story.  Oooo, pinch me, I'm dreaming.  <_<

Elderscrolls 6 started the dev cycle at the height of woke idiocy and then the Biden era so I seriously doubt any of that SHIT is going to be removed.  Creation Engine 27 or whatever version they get around to using.  If modding Starfield wasn't worth the hassle then what will ES6 be like?

However it pans out, it is what it is.
