Say hello to Yennifer, Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski.

BTW, she's Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect.

Like the name Yvonne, in fact that's the name of my current character in Skyrim. :D Didn't know she was Australian. She could play Ciri as well if the actor for Geralt was older. She was okay in Chuck, I guess, but I hate the Lawson character in ME... and her stupid ass.

People have no "respect" they will cuss you out for a minor mistake. Linus did this and admitted to it. There is one thing to tell someone that their work is unacceptable and quite another one to call them names and cuss them out.  That is unprofessional.

I somehow doubt that Linus had insulted people for "minor mistakes". Those instances were most likely major issues with the code or with the coding style, or about ideas that were downright stupid. Calling them names may be unprofessional, may be even childish, but keep in mind that empathy goes both ways.

"Meritocracy is a dystopian delusion"... Well, it seems to me that these people basically are clueless and living in their safe spaces, all they care about is themselves and they don't even have any idea what their views and wishes would lead to... what a confused, selfish and dumb group of people... not to mention, extremely toxic...

Coraline has had a troubled incident in the past with a contributor of Opal project. There was a discussion taking place on Twitter where Elia, a core contributor to Opal project from Italy, said “(trans people) not accepting reality is the problem here”.

Coraline was neither in the discussion nor was she a contributor to the Opal project. But as an LGBT activist, she took it to herself and demanded that Elia be removed from the Opal Project for his ‘views against trans people’. A lengthy and heated discussion took place on Opal’s GitHub repository. Coraline and her supporters, who never contributed to Opal, tried to coerce the moderators into removing Elia, a core contributor of the project.

While Elia wasn’t removed from the project, Opal project maintainers agreed to put up a code of conduct in place. And this code of conduct was nothing else but Coraline’s famed Contributor Covenant that she had pitched to the maintainers herself.

But the story didn’t end here. The Contributor Covenant was then modified and a new clause added in order to get to Elia. The new clause widened the scope of conduct in public spaces. This malicious change was spotted by the maintainers and they edited the clause. Opal eventually got rid of the Contributor Covenant and put in place its own guideline.

They can get anyone to write program code and kernels

I disagree. Yes, anyone can code, but not as efficiently, which matters most when writing code for things like an OS kernel. I worked as a TA back in the early 2000's. I used to grade programming assignments written in C for both Data Structures and Parallel Programming classes. Let me tell you, I know how the Millenials code when they aren't copy & pasting stuff they found on the Internet. Ever wondered why the software you use get increasingly shitty despite the fact that you now have a lot more powerful hardware? Yes, that's because of the Millenials. All they care about is getting the job done, writing elegant, efficient code is probably a very foreign concept for that generation.

Guess who wrote the new "Code of Conduct" they adopted (compare the old vs the new), should tell you what it's all about.

Linus always seemed like a guy with a spine. Honestly, I can't tell if he's serious or not in that post...

  5. You know what else SJWs has ruined? Linux. Here's why...

That Verge computer build video?  One of the main editors of Verge Tweeted that there was a 'campaign of hate' against the presenter and that's why they took the video down.  In other words they played the SJW victim card once people started calling them out about how whacked their build was.

Naturally. Bet that idiot even gets promoted. That video really was a disgrace and the Verge is a tech site run by retards apparently.

that just can't be the case. It isn't even the case here. We try to be as open and public as possible but there are times when someone post something that can't be on the site and has to be removed (legal  reasons)  And we have given sanctions (once severe ones) to one person without making that public or the reasons for doing so. (Maintaining respect for the member)

That isn't always possible.  NOT making any excuses for LL, btw.  They're dirty and they know it, it's just that they can't be challenged so they abuse their moderation powers.

The ONLY posts that are hidden/deleted without discussion here at NSFW are marketing spam.  Otherwise the ugliness is present for all to see, unless the OP deletes them.  To my recollection we've only had one instance of someone repeatedly breaking the rules and their posts are still up.  We don't hide or delete posts, but then again we're not closet SJWs hiding behind a 'no drama' rule.

What I meant was the moderation actions that involve legitimate members of a forum, you know, the ones we always complain about, not the ones that can be categorized as "maintenance". :)

    You're not alone there...

Maybe we shouldn't feel so bad about that, considering the fact that we'll only live once and it's not very long, we'll all end up in a grave eventually and will soon be forgotten. In other words, someday we may realize that the monkey was right all along.

  8. The mind of a SJW is very puzzling... Instead of complaining about violence in video games, they seem to worry about their daughters' so called inability to express themselves in a violent video game... I wonder what their reaction would be if their daughters got drafted into the army for an actual war.

  9. To be fair, when you turn real historical wars into games in which people laugh and have fun by killing each other, complaining about authenticity sounds a bit hypocritical to me. I mean, war, killing or dying is never fun, but clearly people who develop or play these games don't see it that way. If they did, they would have realized that it was very disrespectful to the millions who died in these wars and also they would never want "their daughters" to play them. In other words, it's all very fucked up in my opinion, whether or not there's a female soldier with blue hair in the game doesn't really change anything. DICE should have left historical wars alone and continued with the 2142. It was pretty good and had potential, besides no one would complain about authenticity.

  10. Use this to upload 3 images of your favorite character from the games and it'll tell you who should play it.

Edıt: Never mind, it's too good at recognizing faces and doesn't suggest any actual humans. 😅

I think Emma Watson would be okay for the role of Ciri.

    I wonder who you'd pick for Shani Shani's mother...🤪

  11. A lot of people like the popular music of the 80's, but I think the 80's was when quality started to go downhill (largely thanks to MTV), especially in the late 80's. Overall, aside from a bunch of film scores, the music of the 90's and beyond is basically cancer, but people don't seem to care.

Here's a tiny but rather telling example. One is a 1979 disco song by Sister Sledge, the other is a rap song, or whateverthatis, from the 90's with no melody of its own, other than the guitar loop ripped off from the 79 song. Guess which one is more popular. There are many more *songs* like this.

Things are even worse these days as people seem to have run out of well known and popular things to rip off, and they now use relatively unknown old stuff from international artists. As I've said many times, there's been a rather obvious crisis in all creative areas in art, including movies and video games.
