bethesda Bethesda announces "Creation Club" (Paid Mods)
ritualclarity replied to Doublezero's topic in Gaming Discussions
I will be honest... I loved Witcher 3 after forcing myself to learn and get use to the mechanics. It is a deep and rich game. 2077 is based off the game and CDPR is doing it right by having the author part of the development process. If they put the love and care into the game it will be great. Now, It might not be liked by me to be honest, however, in reality in today's time and age, it doesn't have to be. If a company does an excellent job with story, mechanics, graphics and such and develops their skills and show genuine care and concern... then it is a champ regardless of if it as moddability, or liked by me personally. In reality, so long as they show the care they gave WW3, I will likely buy it regardless. I will do this to support them and their work because they deserve to be supported in a time when other companies treat their customers like a number (or shit depending on your point of view) I personally believe they will put in the effort and quality that they have shown in the past so I am confident that it will be a winner(awards and such) I would like to have the game next year... however, it if takes them 2 more years... that is fine as well. Then at least they won't be releasing a game MEA style. -
I can't help it... when I hear your first video soundtrack I go right to Weird Al's Like a Surgeon..

Since this is about music and music lovers, I was recently wanting to listen to some music. I didn't have it with and had access to a computer and internet so I thought I'd play a bit of Pandora. FYI I rarely play or use their service only when there are times I don't have access to my music. Long story short they changed their policy and are enforcing the 40hour free use policy... which is cool after all you are getting it free and they are providing a service which cost them royalties... fair enough... EXCEPT they didn't let me have access to this. It is the beginning of the month.. great ok.. perhaps it is a rolling month.. (yes I didn't believe that either) or maybe I forgot and left it on (slim fucking chance of that as well) so I cleaned the cookies from them and used another garbage email I have and opened an account.. all was good for a bit. I was listening to some Rock but the selection was much more harsh than I wanted to listen at that time so I moved to more mainstream list... then BAM.. they stopped my access. 30 minutes into the use of their account on an email I haven't used since 2012!!!!! WTF.. also apparently they are "targeting" selected individuals. Well Fuck you Pandora and bad move. I am now at a point where I want to get access (can afford subscriptions) and was considering it to complement my Netflix account. Well due to your dickery, you are not the company I want to patronize. So what subscription or free service do you guys, gals and any aliens suggest? Also for some music.. (with dancing) DAM that guy can move...

Yes, @endgameaddiction so what if you pissed off someone here. This isn't a 6th grade class in some prissy upper class neighborhood where everybody get a gold start if they come to school... and if you don't but really, really wanted to. State your mind here and get used to it. Don't hold back. If at the end of the day everyone here has all their appendages... especially the most important one.. then it is a good day! I loved how you kicked @Kendo 2 right in the nut sack.. that was worth the price of admission. lol. Wow.. I don't think I have seen anyone hit him that hard ... ever... @Kendo 2 yea... you are a fucking normie.. you have gotten old and you aren't the bad ass you thought you were... (except when creating textures and meshes...Wow...you ... well are awesome there, regardless of being a normie.. :P) lol -

However, regardless of if you buy it or not, the new exe and system fucks up the free mods you already have... unless I am mistaken. -

They have done the impossible so far. They have pissed off their most strongest supporters and the rest of the community. They are on the defensive and just sticking by their guns. They have shown a total lack of care for what is being stated except where they can ban their supporters ( like that you-tuber that requested that something be fixed that she thought was wrong.. nothing negative) It is very possible that they would start to request mods be taken down that are like the ones that they have. Even more so with the interview where they state that they own the original concepts (Stealth armor etc) so they aren't taking already created content from the community and putting it on the CC. They are setting the lines up and showing that they own these assets so that when the do (and I believe they will ) start doing takedowns.... they will not care. The question is ... are then going to do it with the current community assets/games or wait until a new game is released with CC included. I believe if they are continued being attacked for the content on the CC as being copies they will not care and submit take down request (and then take it legal later if needed) to prove their point. They are showing that they are committed to the new program and that they don't give a flying fuck what someone thinks. They will continue down this path in one form or another (only minor alterations like increased record counts possible if they can get Sony to get their jack boot off the modding concept and allow this to happen) I believe they are showing that they are setting themselves up to take on the modding community indirectly (which they are currently) but directly if needed. They are thinking on their future (their concept anyway of that ) and what they desire for the next 1,5,10 year out and what the gaming business will be and they are setting themselves up for that. If that means that they kill what "was" for what they precieve "will be" then they will believe they are doing the right thing. They are showing very scary moves and if you read between the lines it is even more frighting if you like the "status quo". and the modding community as you understand it. Modding is a market and a commodity. Bethesda and such is a business and they will treat it as such. It is untapped potential and they will exploit it for what they can. To be honest they will succeed in their plan as they will make money on the process and that is all they care about. They don't care about the rich community or protecting it. They believe (and might be correct ) that people will still buy the game. The people they are marketing it to isn't the same people that were the focus of a few years or more ago. It is those that have consoles (or console mentality) and interested in micro transactions etc. The modding community (at least as far as Bethesda games and the way things were in the past) is in its final death throws and many still ignore the facts but in time after the shock, anger, sadness there will be acceptance of this. Bethesda knows this and is looking at the long picture (Pete Hines interview shown me this) The world of Bethesda Modding is dead as we know it. -

Dollars are no good here, says Pete Hines/ Bethesda.. lol. We need Creation Club credits (showing that they drink their own cool-aid. The only explanation how they can be so far off and do so many stupid things) -

That song about sums it up. It sums it up quite well. Now I am sad Knowing that I will likely never experience the pleasure and joy I had in the past with Fallout 3 and to a lesser degree Fallout NV. I was never really a fan of the TES series. so now ... I have nothing to look forward to from Bethesda... except watching the crash and burn that they seem to be having on an almost daily basis. -
Who's going to play Conan Exiles?
ritualclarity replied to asenasen's topic in Conan Exiles General Discussions
That alone is a win in itself. If I played it I would like to play with myself... lol. (not have it on a server or if it was on a server it was on someone I knew) Speaking of servers... wonder if someone here would like to set one up? It might be cool for members to be able to play the game together and such. It is nice that there is a slow growing mod scene. I like it when it slowly grows in the beginning. It makes me feel as if they are doing it as needed and I believe those individuals and others will stick around for the long haul (or be more likely to) Not popping in for some quick fame. -
It is always interesting to listen to popular music from other places from time to time.

Classic song. Nice touch giving us the different renditions of the song. I am kind of partial to the muddy waters version myself. That song lends itself to blues etc better IMO

One way to keep CDPR true to its origin is to constantly tell the world how much you love the company, its products and its culture. Doing this and keeping them informed of the feelings of the vast majority of their customer base would help in my opinion. so long as the management team is in effect there I believe they will continue to do what they do the way they do it. I don't have delusions, I know there will be games that aren't quite what I want or might be below expectations, however, they have had this in the past and they have improved game, over game, over game and show a constant striving to better themselves. So if something is lower than expected or there are issues, this shows through that they are honest and have integrity and will strive to do better and better as time goes on. This is probably one of the best aspects a company can show their consumers. I am getting a bit concerned with their growth and more dev teams, as much as I am getting excited at the aspect that there will be more selection of games and they will come faster and faster. My concern is the aspect of growth does make management a challenge as the current group of leaders get thinned out. I truly hope that they hire the right people and develop them properly to extend the same culture and not thin it out. Bethesda in its early days of Morrowwind etc, had this to some degree or another and as they grew they lost touch and once other companies took over... it was gone. It is difficult to keep the spark going in situations like that. .If they can do this... then CDPR is going to be great for a very, very long time. -

I don't see them only releasing the CC for those accepted into the Creation Club. However, based on what they have done, this might be the case if they get really stupid. I do see them only releasing the CK for those that belong to their Site/Club etc and are members. As for the difference. Honestly it isn't the fault of Bethesda (one of the few times it isn't) that there is a limit for Xbox, or a stronger one for Play Station. There are easy ways around this aspect. In reality I suspect even if they had larger record counts and allowed true "DLC Sized" content which wouldn't fit on the consoles, there will be a plenitude of simple armor mods or small groups of armor mods. There are people on the mod sites for them that make an real effort to get their stuff on Xbox and even try to address their customers. If this was done correctly with some small royalties, the bug fixes and even smaller markets like Sony's Playstation would be covered. Think of it this way. You created many single armors. If you got a few cents for 1000's of armors that would really add up in time for something you were already creating for another, yet larger mod. It is a simple thing to pull some of the best armors and other content out to give to the consoles. The only way for them (Bethesda) to really make this a success and really make a dent is to address the PC market directly and allow the "chips to fall where they may". In time and with this being certified content from Bethesda (them taking responsibility for it) Sony might indeed open up more availability for this. after all it is "official content". Maybe not now on the current system. There might be some technical issue with this hardware/software wise however, very possible going forward. It is only going to benifit Sony (and Xbox) to open up to more of this type of content and become more flexible. They have a large share of the market and growing by the day. That combined with the push to be able to be cross platform for games then you have essentially the ability to have freedom for whichever hardware selection you choose from consoles or PCs and be able to play the games. Ideally this would be the next step in the direction for consoles. -
Nice, touch. 4th wall break. A bit corny at the end but ... how many other companies will take time out to do such a simple but really special thing for their customers? The new Witcher game wouldn't be the same without Geralt. Also it is very difficult to catch the feeling and excitement when creating a game in the universe that was part of our favorite games. It is very risky. I wonder how they will do this. Perhaps a prequel to a time before Geralt. Perhaps another witcher and his/her experience in an ever more modern world, where magic and such is a very rare occurrence covered up by the governments and other entities (churches and such) and the very nature of him/her and the work they do is to be kept secret... Or, another conjunction with fresh experiences and horrors and the need to start the horrible experiences again and new Witchers are created (perhaps this time where you could create your own witcher using the sex, school and perhaps even race... there are mentions of possibility of elves being witchers in the past per the game) Time will tell. I have a fair amount of confidence that they will do a great job at whatever they do r/t this.

They could easily name or catagorize the mods to specific platform (in the case above to PC) due to the ability to hold larger contents etc, etc. Nobody states that they have to have the same mod for all three or more (in the future) editions. They are the ones that are trying to do this and it won't work well. They will starve the PC market.... causing the drive to create mods to diminish and in the end harm their bottom line by lowering the interest in future Bethesda games except from console gamers which most aren't (that is dedicated) skilled in modding and if they are, they aren't' interested. There is great interest in Fallout NV and Skyrim not becuase of consoles but because of the back end scripting being so mature. (Extention and other tools) Without PC development to drive that the mods and interest will be lower IMO. The case in point is Skyrim SE and Fallout 4. It is nowhere near where FNV, Skyrim was at this time in its release. -

Gopher was on the CC bandwagon. It wasn't until the bait and switch that was done that he lost his mind. Remember the comments of "DLC sized"? What we didn't realize is we were thinking of large ones not the size of the horse armor in Oblivion days. They are doing exactly what they stated, however, they misslead everybody. There double speak is epic. Many "fan boys" have lost their mind for various reasons with the final result of this project he isn't alone in this matter. Shame of it is/was is that they could have done something great with this. Like much of other things they have done, great opportunities are literately fucked over in the worst way each and every time. For example, increase the size of the CC content max, not to auto download so that someone from fucking reddit or elesewhere could "legally" create a esp to access the content which was essentially give away for free (forced download) A bit of money up front while working on the mod and if the author is successful in the CC field they could be offered an elevated position where they get some sort of royalties. A small percentage of the sales, not much but very likely more than they could get from Patrion. (3~5% of sales after x %) or other changes. Any improvement on what they did would have been much better than this. -
It isn't like "real artist" haven't used blood, urine and other bodily fluids to create art. It isn't an original idea. Andres Serrano did this as well many, many years ago. It is ashame that they are doing it for attention to themselves, as opposed to attention to the art itself, meaning behind the art, the emotions created from viewing the art (face value) etc, etc. It appears to me at least it is just attention getting and not really worth anyone's time.

Gopher was just understanding what was being "sold" to us. He looked at the upsides which if Bethesda did what they stated they would do (more than 4000 records) etc. He is as much as many of us feeling seriously lied to. Not all of us had the foresight that some of us have. Some didn't see this coming even though there was serious hints that this was coming. Now, the other shoe dropped and now everybody even the Bethesda Fan boy that loved and adored Bethesda and their offerings is now realizing Bethesda isn't the "golden" company that those fans thought it was. I am interested in seeing how his long term reaction will be now that he can clearly see what Bethesda is really like and what they think of their customers and the modding community which includes him as he is an established Bethesda modder in his own right. -
^ Above is a very good explanation of our processes from a member's perspective (not stated by ourselves) we live up to that. We as far as I know haven't deleted or edited anything without the owners understanding of the reason, and those times it was due to those issues which Kendo stated above. If anything has been changed there is a different color text and a very explicit explanation. (one example is the Skyrim Tutorial and that was only done with permission from the author ) This has lead to a very healthy, open and accepting community. We intend to keep it this way as long as we are involved in the matter. Furthermore we have no problem with someone taking a conversation or issue PM to discuss some issue further (for better clarification or such) on almost any matter. Finally, we are unconcerned with levels of activity (more, less don't matter) We have no goals to become large or "popular' we just want to be a very pleasant site to go to to discuss games and similar subjects. It is completely up to the member what level of activity they wish to engage in (unlike others sites)

You aren't allowed to use those words here if you will cry and have a fit because someone gives you back as hard as you give Don't worry Karma, sorry I missed this somehow. In any case if you, or others, miss some word or slang, just ask for clarification of the term. Someone should be able to help clarify it. I don't consider that derailing the thread as everybody needs to understand the conversation as much as possible. To be honest I don't know most of the colorful terms that Kendo comes up with...He is a regular slang libary.. lol Carifications to the words given above ... to the best of my ability... not sure on the last one.

They were so wrong.... Oh we are so terrible... horrible. The worst experiences you will ever have on a site in your life.... run, run fast as you can In any case, glad to see you here and hope you have a fun time here and enjoy yourself.
