(NEW) Todd Howard Interview about FO4 on glixel.com : an OP-ED
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
To keep getting the GOTY awards that they gotten use to since morrowind I just hope this last game gave them enough but hurt that they wake up and realize they need to stop fucking around with their winning formula. They don't need ME dialogue or COD guns or that Sims crap to make their games successful. Then need to follow their formula. Then and only then add on to it a few features like the Sims buiding or the other things they might want. They historically had great dialogue and quest and was rich in content. Morrowwind I am told is chock full with this. Oblivion was slightly dum down and then Fallout 3 wasn't even made by them I believe. Then came Fallout New Vegas again dum own but not to a level that people were outraged. There are those that love it over Fallout 3. Can't blame them for continuing that it was still successful. The Skyrim had some hatred but still loyal fans loved it and it got the award. They kept on giving lighter and ligher and weaker games until now. The PS4 version of Fallout 4 is in the clearance bin of my local MicroCenter. In the CLEARANCE BIN. The game is only ONE YEAR OLD. I remember only just getting a decent discount on Skyrim well over a year later and it still was somewhere around 39.99. I say to Todd Howard if I ever had a chance and he'd actually listen to me. I'd tell him go go back to the drawing board and look at the Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV and see what was there. What made it so successful and such a fan favorite then implement those into the next Fallout / TES game you produce. Make sure you follow that formula and when you cut back.. cut back on the content that is new and not proven yet. Build those rich worlds with interesting interactions and wonderful experiences. If you change the engine.. I would strongly advise that you release a test game with the supply room and a small dungeon or Vault whatever that has the items needed to give the engine some testing. Let the community get this for 5 or so dollars to build and work with. Small single cell or perhaps a couple of small cells that can be tweaked etc. Something to let the mod content creators get more use to the new system. Finally, you just have to have the CK released the day of the game release. Even if it is Beta. Something for people to start working on. Let them know it is a work in progress use at your own risk. Do the above and most of what people complain about would be gone. That is what I would tell him. Even if they used the same engine, crappy NPC bodies and had the glitches that occur from such a aged engine. If they invested in the story, quest, interactions and content and had it up to the level of Morrowwind/Oblivion/Fallout 3/NV etc and better with adding the new crafting that is in high demand and was received well in Fallout NV and Skyrim they wouldn't be having the bitch fest they get now. They'd likely win the GOTY award. At least for this time. However it will get even harder and harder going forward if they can't invest /develop a proper modern engine that can be modded to the level we currently can. Something that can give Witcher level graphics. There is no excuse. Gamer computers are generally 64bit with at least 8gigs of ram and growing yearly. The limits they had before are gone. New Direct x and Open GL capabilities are reaching dam near realistic levels not only with Physics but with textures namely skin and fur. How much time do they have. -
New features coming to NSFWmods.com

Well if it is chinese.. then you might have to learn Chinese I know what you mean. Hopefully DZ can wip something up for that as a tutorial. However likely needs to be more a start to finish project for the tutorial so that others can follow the source files and then get the finished files to be able to be sure they did it correctly. -
DZ's Devious Devices Expansion: Very Cruel Leather Hood - In Game

Yes.. it has great detail that is hidden by the glossyness of the item. if that could be dulled it will be a pretty nice item for those that appreciate this type of asset. However.... perhaps someone that is really into this could chime in and give their thoughts. It might be that it don't matter the shinnyness and it might be preferred? -

Hey.. not often someone of DZ is willing to create a tutorial for someone on how to do something ;). If you have anything, anything at all that you have been wanting to do and need help.. get it while it is hot I would jump on this. Kendo did a quick one mostly for me and I wasn't expecting it. It is quick and dirty but has all the info or most of the info needed. Take it from someone that doesn't mod. Don't know how to do these textures and such.. If you want to learn and someone like DZ is willing to create a.. well basically custom tutorial based-on your needs... Jump on it. That don't come along often. -
What Mod Is This? (FO3/FONV)
ritualclarity replied to yoyosdt's topic in Fallout 3: New Vegas General Discussions
I believe any time with Bethesda games you see a red anything (Arrow or Exclamation mark) it is due to missing files. Always at that point double check to be sure the files are in the correct location. -

She isn't active here. Barring someone that is using this system and has updated you might have to experiment yourself. Just make sure your MO folder is nice an backed up and you are able to restore if something goes wrong (your game) and have at it. If you find a nice update procedure that works for you.. and you are willing It will be appreciated if you post that info back here. -

Sure if someone wants to do something like this. Most here (like Doublezero) makes the asset in the final form that they desire. These are mostly original works and created in the form the author decided they should be in. There isn't as much conversions going on and some of the ones I see around here (I believe are conversions) are from individuals that could basically create the asset. If you can find some great tutorials or someone that is really skilled at using these tools and conversions and willing to create one and post it somewhere we would love to have those tutorials. I also would love to see deep in depth tutorials on this. -

The Video Game Music Appreciation Thread

How often do you hear game music played with professional musicians and professional singer at a main event like that? TES games have such inspiration for those fans. videos placed in a spoiler because they take up so much space lol. -
AGONY, a new level in the Horror genre
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
I hope they are able to deliver on what the trailers are showing and not cut back. The content is quite graphic and I am sure some will start to complain about the "effect" it might have and when that happens I hope the company holds true to their vision. It looks quite good so far at least from what I can see in the trailers. -
EA Instates New Disclosure Policies for Game Reviewers
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
I thought that was the case but wanted to be sure. EA has a horrible rep with some customers and I am one of them. However if this is enforced and is actually done they do deserve complements for their policy which will give the viewers of the videos and blogs etc better info on what is happening and why a blog might or might not be presented in a specific way. Full disclosure is a very good thing. Great info and a benefit to the gaming customers. This is a nice approach. Perhaps other corporations will do the same instead of making wild off the wall policies changes that only harm the customer in the end. (Looking at you Bethesda with your one day review copies ) -
EA Instates New Disclosure Policies for Game Reviewers
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
So what does this mean for the consumer / viewer? At first glance I think it means a good thing for anything that is shown will be clear what is motivating the creator of that content. Or am I missing something... I see EA as such an evil empire that I can't see any good from what they are doing -

ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Skyrim General Discussion
Yes.. I really appreciate the research and care the author gives us when he presents these videos. Really good quality, excellent info as well. -
The item name might not show up properly. (due to the fonts and language) If it it does it will show in Korean or whatever language that mod is for. I don't think it will hurt other things so long as it is a new item added to the game. (not a re-texture) and no other items have been edited related to the game. Backup your game well and then give it a try. if it don't work well then return back to what you had. Perhaps if the OP don't care or mind someone could create a different language version for those that are interested. In fact something like this shouldn't be hard even for a new person. FNVedit.. open up the mod and change the naming of the clothing to something that fits the language it will be used in. At least as far as I know about modding and what this represents. Perhaps Kendo or Doublezero could chime in. For a single or couple of armors it should be really easy to convert.

Bethesda Pulls the Plug on Pre-release Game Reviews: an OP-ED
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
Here is an article that basically covers the fact that they (the developers of ME ) know what is wanted and desired and is working to get it for you the player. (consumer) I like the comment that they are committed. to giving and delivering the goods and that is the reason for the long time frame. I believe true fans will be more than willing to wait for a properly developed and executed game https://www.masseffect.com/news/an-update-on-mea They also are pretty good at understanding that the old universe is used and now in order for the story to properly grow they need a new space and time for this to occur. This is the reason for the new Universe .. literally- 20 replies

Bethesda Pulls the Plug on Pre-release Game Reviews: an OP-ED
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
I agree that they know they had their asses handed to them. Likely the reason for their release of Skyrim SE. They wanted to get more positive public opinion. However they keep on tripping on their selves like the announcement that they wouldn't be giving review keys until one day before release. That is another sign that they know they are not up to par. This is a way to protect their efforts and assets and try to get the best start as possible for their products before they get trounced upon. Hopefully they know that is only a band-aid. They have to update much more than they have for Fallout 4. Now ... as for competition.. one thing is tech the other is story. Even with 2006 tech and engine that has has only been upgraded slightly over these years. The main attraction of many to the Fallout or TES universe is the story and role playing. Engaging characters, stories, quest missions and many many many of them. One can dive in a play the previous titles 200, 500, 1000, 2000 hours and still find fresh events, side quest and other things to hold their attention and give the a reward for playing the game. Role playing... is aided by a story that can be re-worked time and time again by the ability to mod. Further adding fun and value to the game. This is the formula that they had success with. This isn't Mass Effect. They are a different company with a different formula. Their formula is different and they are successful because they remain true to their formula. Even with their flop ending of ME3 many are willing to give the new ME a try. (one thing is the company realized/realizes that they did under deliver the ending and seem to have learned their lesson) They really only made one serious fan mistake even though each game had major changes in the game play. ME1 unlimited ammo but limited by heat. ME2 limited ammo but less issues with heat. The character builds were different in capacities between the games however only to a small degree. Most of what was done through ME1 to ME3 was responses to the fan or customers feedback in a positive way. They respond and make small changes and see how they work then move on. I have confidence that they will do a great job on the new game and not make that major failure of the ending of ME3. Bethesda isn't doing this. They have lost contact with what made them successful. The first and most important step to gain back what they lost is to return to the role playing story types and depth and feel they had in the past. This isn't that expensive considering what is involved. They have done some of what they needed to do with the engine by going to 64bit (for more memory access) and I believe they added the ability for the addition of animations directly into the mod that is created. No need for a FNIS replacement. This is a really good thing. I can give credit where credit is due. They need more open ended story lines for the player not the deeper more "forced" story line of Fallout 4. (a parent getting their infant kidnapped.. really.. How is someone really suppose to help the Minutemen build up their settlements or help the Brotherhood get their gadgets when their infant son is missing? The person that suggested that for the main story needs to be fired, taken out back and then shot.) They need to look over what made their previous games GOTY and make sure that gets added to the game. Not skimp on story, quest, or character development. Mass Effect is popular because the developers of that game understand what their core fans like about ME and give that to them. Bethesda has lost that ability and seriously need to get it back if they hope to be relevant in the future.- 20 replies

Bethesda Pulls the Plug on Pre-release Game Reviews: an OP-ED
ritualclarity replied to Kendo 2's topic in Gaming Discussions
Yea... don't they even test these games now a days on the equipment that they are stating that customers should be using? Where are those game testers? How are they playing the game. Do they have quad TitanX's to test the game? How can they be testing the game and have such poor results unless they are using some dual i7extreme rig with quad TitansX's. Quality control is out the door now. Lets be clear I can accept some glitches.. (getting stuck, unfair game mechanics or even glaring exploits etc) but not even being able to actually play reasonably well on an recommended hardware... completely unacceptable. Wonder if it is just that the textures and world spaces are too large for the current hardware to run (like Fallout NV New Vegas world space which was all in one during testing until they realized that hardware couldn't handle it and broke up those spaces) Or the meshes and textures are such high quality that it is just killing the computers and is more "future ready" (AKA Crysis claim etc) However it is more likely that it is poorly optimized and sloppy in design. All the more reason to wait until the first major Steam / Origin etc sale.- 20 replies

Hello Shay. Welcome With a bit of patience and willingness to learn you can learn to be able to create mods.

The laces look appropriate for the shoes. The shiny white offset by the thin shiny black lases.. nice. I am sure however when you do change them.. they will be even better Now the Dragon Born can save Tamerel in Stripper Boots. I can imagine the player saying Fus Ro Dah.. That bitch.. wagging her finger. I really got to get a life..

I haven't seen Kendo do such things. I have seen him do some "quick and dirty" tutorials but nothing in depth as that. However fortunately there are many tutorials for Skyrim and other games that give a very good idea of how to do those. If you want just texture and mesh works you can find tutorials on those as well. Lots of resources there. Perhaps if you decide to do a project and get some work done and run into a problem with porting some textures or working a mesh (flickering etc layering and such) The below gives some tutorials and even ways to find the program for free. It might take a bit of work to find the tools and set them up etc.
