The example was about a "potential" member with no posts. Where on earth do you see someone who joins a forum and first message he posts is "Could you please unlock this thread, I'd like to post in it?".

I was invited here by @Kendo 2 who gave me the link and then @endgameaddiction. I was reassured I wouldn't experience the same crap happening on LL, such as the ego tripping moderators/admins, arbitrarily locked threads, "my way or the highway" attitude and so on. Looks like I was mislead. Not here to listen to the same crap. Feel free to run your little tyranny however you like it.

I don't give a damn who invited you. I don't care about your imaginary potential members. I don't care if there wasn't consistency in the witch threads that were locked. You know nothing about how these bots attack this site. Some attack specific forums; others attack specific threads. If you don't like how we do things here, then go kick rocks.

I like how you have the gall to compare us to LoversLab when all we did was allow you to attack a moderator and argue with the administrator. Any other forum would banned you twice over.

I checked my profile to change my account name. (just the name. the email, password etc is still the same.) I don't like it like I thought I would. I have found other sites had the ability to change the name in the profile but I can't find it on this site. 

Can someone direct me to where I can do this? Sorry to bother everyone for something that is likely right in front of me, but dam if I can't find it.

Changing your username used to be a feature. I think in a later update that might have been removed. But if you contact Doublezero, he will more than likely change your username for you. He's done it for me in the past.

Thanks, at least I checked correct spots and wasn't one of those new members that didn't want to take the time to even try  

So I will try to be really confident of the name I want to use on this site going forward since I will have to interrupt one of the moderators to change it for me.

You are fine. No troubles unless you violate one of the rules. Opening threads aren't one of them. .  If there is something we'd prefer you do, we will let you know. We are pretty relaxed here. 

Once you are ready you can contact doublezero for the name change. I am not sure I have access to that. Nobody asked me for that in the past.

I enabled the setting that allows members to change their account name. If it was enabled before, it was disabled by an update because I never touched it.

I noticed. I performed a site update, which involved switching to a new version of PHP. I doubt that caused it, but that was the only change I made to the website.

I doubt it was that as well. If it was others would likely have had similar issues. 

I beileve my computer somehow was glitched. Command line full update of everything and a reboot seemed to fix it. It was strange. I can only think as I was trying to access the site, not being able to see any text, checking my profile, moderator tools and such I cleared it. Not being able to see much in the way of any text. (especially that in post and messages) made it hard to determine what was going on. 

My  post was mostly regading my "reminder" to refersh my profile photos.

Go to the top right. ( Under your profile photo) and select "Account Settings" That will bring you to your account info. Your name, email password etc. If you don't have access to that then let us know so we can fix it.

I can create a new account if that is better or easier. I don't have many post here so far.  I would have just done that but most sites don't like multiple accounts.

Remember, I am willing to create a new user.  Same email so you can know it is me. In case there are some security stuff I don't know about going on.  If I create a new user you will be more than welcome to delete the old one. In fact I'd prefer it.

I looked at your account as a moderator and I can't get access to be able to change your name while @Doublezero works on the solutoin.
